Dear Margie,
I so well remember your Dad as my favorite veterinarian in Portsmouth! I am sending my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Your Dad will long be remembered by all of us whose lives he touched with the care he gave to our four-legged friends. I regret I cannot come to the Memorial planned for the 31st, as I have dog sitting duty that weekend. I will be there in spirit!
Sincerely,
Cindy (Webb) Tucker

Back in the early 1960’s I had the pleasure of meeting and working with both Drs. Eames at the Animal Medical Center. I will always hold high the kind, professional, good-natured, skilled, caring doctors of veterinary medicine that helped me with my science fair projects that ultimately led me to representing New England at a NASA sponsored symposium in Washington and later representing the USA at the International Youth Science Fortnight in England and a Science Studies Tour of Western Europe. In addition, I received awards and scholarships as a result of those science fair projects – guided and overseen by the two brother veterinarians whom I will always hold in utmost esteem. I mentioned the accolades I received not to bring recognition to me, but to emphasize that they had a foundation in the extraordinary guidance and wisdom, grace and graciousness, and good nature and mentoring of Doctors Edward and Leonard Eames. I am deeply sorry at Dr. Eames’ passing and extend my prayers and sorrow to his family and friends. As the proud “dad” to two charming rescue felines, I credit my caring and respect for them and all the animal companions I have had in my 60+ years in no small part to the attitudes and actions of both Drs. Eames. May the soul of Dr. Edward Eames be surrounded by all of God’s creatures and their love, as he surrounded God’s creatures with his love and caring here on Earth.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Eames' death. Back in the late 1970's he gave me a job at the Animal Medical Center during the summers before and after I got into veterinary school. The experience was very helpful.

Dear Beth and Rick and the Eames family,
We were so sorry to hear about the death of your dad. He was our vet when we first came to Portsmouth. Always cheerful and helpful. He'd whistle or chitter when giving our cats a shot. Always made me feel better, and the cats knew it would be over soon. Our sincere condolences on your loss.

My thoughts are with you at this time of loss . I have many good memories of Dr.Ed when he was our Vet for our small dairy farm in Greenland ,and the years the family spent at the cottages with the annual clambakes .

God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around him and whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away, although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
Family, my deepest sympathy. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I love you!
