Mrs. Bateman was a great teacher who really went the extra mile for her students and instilled in me a desire to keep up with current events in the world; something I do to this day at nearly 40 years of age. I am sure that Dondero school was never the same after she retired as the world will be different now that she is not in it. Beyond being a great teacher, she was a great person and she will be missed. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Bateman's family and close friends.

Mrs. Bateman was one of my fourth grade teachers at Dondero school. I remember her well! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I have nothing but good memories of her as a teacher!

Mrs. Bateman challenged us in 4th grade every day. At Dondero, I remember writing a story about a trash can that came alive and threatened some chickens. My drawing of the chicken coop was basically a small house, and Mrs. Bateman said with a smile, "That is not a chicken coop! You need to go to the library and look one up!" Thank you Mrs. Bateman - for making me do it right, and for instilling a love of the library in me. I've recalled this episode many times over the past 40+ years.
My heartfelt condolences to the Bateman family.

My condolences to the Bateman family on your loss. Mrs. Bateman was one of my favorite teachers at Dondero and I often share her witticism (and give her props, of course), "You learn something new every day." With a wink and twinkle in her eye, she would respond with this comment to a student's factual or not-so-factual answer to a question . Rest in Peace, Mrs. Bateman. You were a gem. Fondly, Julie Beaulieu Hayes
