Ellen Boucher Obituary

EXETER — Ellen E. Boucher, 91, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, after a brief illness.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1916, in Bradford, Mass., the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Boucher.

Ellen will be sadly missed by her sisters, Mildred Boucher and Loretta Wyatt, both of Exeter, and her brother, Albert Boucher, of Port Hadlock, Wash.

Ellen will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Leslie Campbell of North Hampton, Beth and Michael Fletcher of Atkinson, Martha Wyatt and Stephen Beaulieu of Plaistow, Charles and Donna Gilbert and David and LiYing Gilbert, all of Hudson, Marie Fontaine of Keene, William and Cindy Moffitt of Florida, and Jeff and Virginia Lineberry of California; and also many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ellen was the sister of the late Pauline Lineberry, Beatrice Moffitt, Dora Boucher and Priscilla Gilbert, and the aunt of the late Shirley Moffitt.

WE REMEMBER: She graduated from Haverhill High School in 1934 and from the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital of Nursing in 1949. Ellen entered the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972 after 20 years of service, having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Ellen traveled and lived all over the world in her service to her country. Following her retirement, Ellen purchased a house on Bonnie Drive in Exeter, where she lived for over 30 years, fulfilling the dream of owning her own home, growing a vegetable garden, becoming a part of the neighborhood, and entertaining friends and family. In 2006, Ellen moved to the Ernest Barka Assisted Living Facility, where she made many new friends and enjoyed her new home.

Ellen was a parishioner at St. Michael Parish and a member of the Military Retired Officers Association.

She loved politics, needlepoint, the Boston Red Sox, Rye Beach and her family.

SERVICES: Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Church, Exeter. Urn burial with military honors will follow at noon on Tuesday in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Joseph Chaisson Scholarship Fund, c/o, St. Michael Church, 9 Lincoln St., Exeter, NH 03833. My deepest condolences to the family of Ellen E. Boucher. Though her passing is one of sadness, her life appeared to be one of happiness. I never met her, but her family can be proud of her achievements in her life.
