Joan Paul Obituary

NORTH HAMPTON — Joan Marie Paul, 78, of North Hampton, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Epsom Manor, with loving family by her side.

She was born on Aug. 12, 1930, in Boston, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (McGloan) Synnott.

Mrs. Paul grew up in Winthrop, Mass., attended the Mount Saint Joseph School and graduated from Ursuline Academy in Boston.

She was very active in the Framingham Young Women's Club in the 1960s, and was a soloist at St. Jeremiah Church in Framingham. Mrs. Paul worked as an executive secretary for Gerber Scientific for many years.

In addition to her husband, family members include her son, Joseph Doherty and wife Heather of Barnstable, Mass.; daughters Lynne Bonee and husband Christopher of West Hartford, Conn., and Christine Orcutt and husband James of Cranbury, N.J.; stepdaughter Donna Brownell and husband Kevin of Lee; stepson David Paul Jr. and wife Karen of Fort Montgomery, N.Y.; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by daughter Maureen Horgan in 2006.

WE REMEMBER: Joan married her childhood sweetheart, David M. Paul, on the beach in Hawaii in 1992. They loved traveling together and made an around-the-world cruise on the QE II. Joan and David were snowbirds and spent their winters in Leesburg, Fla. Joan enjoyed her garden but was most happy being with her family.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Theresa Church, 815 Central Road, Rye. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
