Mary Sherman Obituary

HAMPTON — Mary J. Sherman, 93, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth.

Mrs. Sherman was employed in the blueprint department at Western Electric in North Andover, Mass., for 21 years, retiring in 1980.

She is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Joan and Eugene Mudgett and Dawn and Frank Mabey, all of Colchester, Conn., Gail and Leon Morse, of Exeter, and Anne and Dan King of McAllen, Texas; one son and his wife, John and Nancy Sarni, of North Hampton; one son-in-law, Stephen Kalista of Big Stone Gap, Va., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, John L. Sarni; her second husband, Victor B. Sherman; one daughter, Mary Margaret "Peggy" (Sarni) Kalista,; four siblings, Carmine, Luigi and Frank Buonopane and Teresa Menna; one great-grandson, Travis M. Depka; and one great-great-grandson, Alex R. Lankford.

WE REMEMBER: She was born December 26, 1914, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late Pasquale M. and Guissepina (Fasano) Buonopane. She moved to the Seacoast in 1934 and had lived in Hampton since 1973.

She was educated in Lynn and Saugus, Mass., schools.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a member of the Catholic Women's Club. She was a former member of the Hampton Falls Grange. Her family was most important to her. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bowling, sewing, watching the Red Sox and had politically active interests.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 26 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842 for the food pantry and soup kitchen.
