Matthew Rix Obituary
Born Feb. 19, 1990, in Dover, he was the son of Matthew and Vicki (Croteau) Rix.
He is survived by his father, Matthew V. Rix of South Berwick; his mother, Vicky L. Rix of Maryland; grandparents Donald and Jackie Croteau of Berlin, and Rita Corliss of Lebanon, Maine, and John Rix of Florida; sisters Sherry, Brittney and Deanna Rix, and Alissa Lee; aunts Ann Rix Emard and Donna and Robert Bryant; uncles Mark and Debbie Rix, and Mike Croteau; cousins Heidi, Erika and Alex Rix, Christina, Jacob and Joshua Emard, Miranda Gowen, Jacob Bryant, and Joshua, Brianna and Lexi Croteau; as well as very close friends, Michael and June Butterfield and family, Roger Dionne and his family, Mark and Cathy Moriarty and their family, and many other extended wrestling family members.
WE REMEMBER: He was raised in South Berwick, Maine, and attended local schools, enjoying time at Central Elementary School, Marshwood Middle and High schools, graduating with the class of 2008.
Matty's first love was undoubtedly his family and his loss will leave an unfillable void in all their lives.
Matty enjoyed all the activities of a young man, his friends, both teammates and classmates and those in the community, snowboarding, video games and time riding his four-wheeler and always up for a slice of pizza pie. He excelled at wrestling, with his dad and others as his coach; he wrestled from the time he was in kindergarden through high school.
His most recent aspiration was working through the process, as he prepared to enter and serve in the United States Army.
SERVICES: Friends may visit with Matty's family from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Marshwood High School on Route 236 in South Berwick. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. at the high school. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marshwood High School Wrestling Boosters, Matt Rix Memorial Fund, and sent to Kennebunk Savings Bank, 7 Levesque Drive, Eliot, ME 03903, or any other KSB branch. Care for the Rix family has been entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, ME 03904. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com.

Dear Rix Family,
I can't say I know how you feel right now, but I can say I know what it's like to lose a loved one. I lost my mother in September of 2006 and it was the hardest thing I had to deal with. When I first heard about this I said, "No NOT MATTY". I have had to come to terms that this is true even though I dont want it to be. Matty truely was a angle walking among us on this earth, he instilled love and warmth to every one he know, and God was his favorit subjuct. He would tell me "when the devil is kocking, pray because God is with you" i remember he said "God Does not judge you he loves you no matter what; pray and he will forgive your sins".
