Maureen Hankin Obituary
She married her high school sweetheart William Hankin on June 22, 1974, and together they lived for a time in Connecticut while he served in the US Navy. They returned to the Seacoast where they would settle in Eliot in 1978 and raise their family. Maureen worked at the shipyard in Connecticut and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for a time before raising her family. When her children were older she worked for Chubrich and Harrigan as a legal secretary for many years.
When her children were young she enjoyed camping and family trips, she enjoyed handy work especially crocheting, sewing, and for many years she made ceramics, sharing many pieces with family.
Her first love was unquestionably her family, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by them as well as her loving husband William of Eliot, mother Alberta Healy of Portsmouth, sons Jason and his wife Jennifer Hankin of Gilderland, N.Y., and Patrick and his wife Elizabeth Hankin of Eliot, grandchildren, Will, Natalie, Kayleigh, and Nolan, an aunt Beulah Addorio of Portmouth and many neices, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to her friend Grace and the other devoted caregivers from York Hospital Homecare.
SERVICES: Friends are invited to visit with Maureen's family on Sunday, October 16, from 4-6 p.m., in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine, 03904. A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, October 17, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home with the Rev. Elizabeth Hoffman officiating. Online condolences and a memorial video may be viewed by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com. Family flowers only are requested, donations may be made by in her memory to York Hospital Home Care, 16 Hospital Drive, York, Maine, 03909. Care for the Hankin family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.

Joanne,Sheila and Bert,I can't begin to tell you how sorry i am to hear this sad,heartbreaking news.Nobody knows how close all of you Sisters were like Debbie and i since we were blessed growing up on the other side of our home.Our Families kind of merged as one,we were all so close.I just want to let you know how heartbreaking this is for so many people,I feel especially sad for Joanne and Sheila because i grew up watching how close the three of you were together,you must be devastated.The most important thing is i know how much she adored her Family and she is now out of pain and is at peace with your Father! Maureen was such a huge part of my childhood....camping trips to Bunganut, us kids always playing in the neighborhood (Maureen feeding us yummy snacks she had baked!!) and countless get togethers between varying family gatherings. I am holding those memories close and am so grateful for her being in my life. My heart goes out to her entire family, she will be missed greatly. Rest peacefully Maureen!

"Hank" as Bill so affectionately called Maureen, was truly one of a kind! She had such a uniquely positive attitude and it was truly an honor to know her and witness the love between she and Bill. She fought such a brave and positive battle. We will miss her dearly at the YH Cancer Ctr.
