Patricia Byrne Obituary

MELROSE, Mass. — Patricia A. (Convery) Byrne, of Melrose, died on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, at the age of 77.

Born on Sept. 12, 1930, in Malden, to the late Edward and Margaret (Jenks) Convery, she was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1947.

Patricia was the devoted wife of Joseph M. Byrne; a loving mother to J. Michael Byrne of Revere, Juliana M. Lemp of Newbury, Maria Hutchings and her husband, Brad, of Stratham, N.H., Patrice Wharem and her husband, Dave Dutil, also of Stratham, N.H., Timothy G. Byrne of Derry, N.H. and Vincent R. Byrne and his wife, Joanne, of Saugus; the cherished grandmother of Chris, Jamie, Meghan, Caite, Craig, Joe, Diana, Vanessa and Brittany; the great-grandmother of Madison Rose, Daniel Joseph, Jonah, Will, Adrienne and Owen; the caring sister of Barbara A. Carye and her husband, Raymond, of Boston and the late Helen Glennon, Catherine Racz, Alice Newell, Anna Mae Collins and Edward Convery, Jr.

WE REMEMBER: She was loved very much by all who knew her and especially enjoyed her neighbors from West Highland Ave. Pat worked at Malden City Hall for four years as a stenographer and statistician before marrying Joseph M. Byrne. During their 56 years together, she was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to take trips to the mall and to the Franciscan Chapel in Peabody; watch classical movies, Jeopardy, the Patriots and Red Sox; play scratch tickets and cribbage; visits from her family and special times during the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

SERVICES: A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Family and friends are invited. Interment is in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Arrangements are by the Gately Funeral Home of Melrose. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to Hallmark Hospice, 100 Hospital Road, Malden, MA 02148.
