Philip Downs Obituary
Kittery Point, ME - Philip Herman Downs, a lifetime member of the seacoast community, passed away peacefully on Friday May 14th, 2021 at home in Kittery Point, ME.
Philip, known affectionately as Flounder, Philly, Uncle Phil, or Grampa Philly depending on who he was talking to was known for his lifelong love of the water, fishing, woodworking, photography, and most importantly his friends and family. He'll be remembered by everyone he encountered for his generosity, his sense of humor, and more than anything else his ability to always make everyone feel just a little bit better for having spent time with him.
Loved by so many, Philly's memory will be celebrated by his sisters Eleanor Morelli and Loretta Downs, his brother Michael Downs, his son Travis Downs and his wife Lydia Garnhart and their 4 daughters Lilliana, Zinnia, Sabriel, and Winona. He was a beloved uncle to Robert, Matthew, Conor, Mark, Melanie, Robin, Crispin, and Tate and great uncle to Frankie, Vanessa, Macyn, Luke, Liam, Scarlett, Larkin, and Harper and all the other kids who grew up or spent time on Short Farm Road.
Services: A celebration of life will be held at the large pavilion at Fort Foster in Kittery Point, ME on Saturday 5/22 from 11:00am – 3:00pm. Phil was a great guy! I've known him for over 10 years, but knew of him 30 years ago thanks to working for Wyman on the Four Sons. Condolences to Mike, Travis and the rest of his family. RIP Philly.
