Timothy Mahoney Obituary

NEWMARKET - Timothy L. Mahoney II, 86, formerly of Newmarket, N.H., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017, with his family at his side. Mr. Mahoney, the loving son of Timothy and Helen (Kellet) Mahoney, was born in Salem, Mass., on November 20, 1930.

After graduation from Salem High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following the war he married Patricia (Dooling) of Beverly, Mass. They settled in Acton, Mass., where they raised four sons.

Tim had a long and successful career in the telecommunications industry. His career led to significant domestic and international travel where he acquired many life-long friends.

Tim was an all-scholastic hockey player, an avid Boston Bruins fan, and enjoyed coaching and teaching his sons and many others during the early days of Acton Youth Hockey.

Tim enjoyed boating and spending time on the water with family and friends. He loved tuna fishing and cruising in the waters off Gloucester, Mass., and Portsmouth, N.H., and made several trips to the British Virgin Islands. He was a licensed commercial marine Captain and later became an instructor for the U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain License courses. Boating and fishing were one of his greatest pleasures.

Above all Tim enjoyed spending time with his family, his many close friends, and being with Patricia Hippe, his longtime companion and partner. Tim was a humble, kind man who always thought of others first. He had a tremendous sense of humor and had many, many loving friends.

Tim is predeceased by his bothers Frances and Jack. He is survived by his sisters, Judith Brown of Florida and Lois Wilcox, also of Florida. He is also survived by immediate family members Timothy L. Mahoney III and Debbie of Littleton, Mass.; Thomas P. Mahoney and Paula and grandchildren Mathew and Shannon of Bolton, Mass.; Daniel J. Mahoney and Lori of Dover, N.H.; and Brian P. Mahoney of Boston.

Donations in his name may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research www.michaeljfox.org.
