I worked with Andy at REI.
He was always outdoors doing what you didn't in a style that was uniquely his own while providing an avenue for you to join in.
He helped you discover and excel at activities you hadn't the courage to engage in on your own.
His sense of humor and his smile always made my day.
He will be missed by so many of us.

I knew Andy when he worked for REI. I was the Store Manager in Bellevue/Redmond. He was a true outdoorsman and loved and respected the natural world. Many are sharing their stories this week about almost giving up on a glacier climb or a rock pitch and Andy's encouragement and empathy which kept them going to accomplish their summits. He will always be remembered by our team as a kind, committed, visionary leader who had gained true respect of others through his generous spirit. We will miss him.
Please accept our deepest sympathy during this very difficult loss. He was loved by all who knew him and his memory will continue to live through all who knew him.

NANCY AND I ARE REALLY SHATTERED BY THE SAD PASSING OF ANDY. WE HURRIED HOME FROM THE DESERT TO BE WITH THE MILLER FAMILY AS SOON AS WE HEARD. PADDY SAM WILL BE FLYING IN ON THURSDAY AND TIM AND LAURIE WILL BE JOINING THE CARSON FAMILY AT THE SERVICE AND GATHERING TO REMEMBER ANDY.

I can't explain the sadness I feel for the loss of such a great guy! Andy was a great teammate in soccer as kids, always had that big smile! Always a good friend even if it had been yrs since you'd seen him!....via con dios mi amigo!
I'm so sorry for the family's loss, it has devastated all of us who knew him!
