Arthur Paul WATERMAN 1914 - 2003 A. Paul Waterman died peacefully and joined our Lord July 17, 2003. Paul was the second of four children born to Walter and Clara (Roth) Waterman. Paul married his high school sweetheart Isabel (Senior) Waterman in 1937. Paul and Isabel both grew up in Seattle, attending Bryant Elementary School and graduating from Roosevelt High School. They had four children and were married for nearly 60 years when Paul's beloved wife Isabel died in 1997. In 2000 Paul married Gail (Glenman) Waterman, who was by his side sharing God's love and bringing Paul happiness when he died at age 89. An enterprising teenager, Paul delivered The Seattle Times and saved enough money to buy his first car at age 14. Later, Paul and his R.H.S. friends would "ride the rails" back to Detroit to get "factory prices" on new cars. Paul and Harry Leighton started repairing cars as Ravenna Auto Rebuild in 1941, then added Ravenna Motors (an English Austin franchise) in 1948. In 1954-55 Austin-Healy and M.G. joined the dealership, and later Volvo. In 1963 Paul, Harry and Bill Petter purchased Bel-Kirk Motors, a Nissan & Volvo dealership in Kirkland. In 1975, Ravenna Motors was sold to Bob Byers. Bill Petter acquired full ownership of Bel-Kirk Motors in 1978, and sold the business to Barrier Motors in 1991. Paul delighted in seeing that the business accomplishments and success achieved by Bob Byers and Bill Petter far surpassed his own. Paul loved his Woodinville "farm" with its view of the Sammamish Valley and Mt. Rainier (which he summited in the 1960's with the University Rotary). He enjoyed backpacking and fishing in the mountains, and elk hunting with his horses in the Blue Mts. with Don Power, family, and friends. Paul is survived in boundless love by his wife Gail of Woodinville; sons Richard Waterman, Kirkland; Gerald Waterman, Seattle; William Waterman, Lake Oswego, OR; daughter Marylou Waterman, Vancouver, WA; brother Don Waterman, Camano Island; sisters Margaret Johnson, Des Moines, WA; Virginia Ryning, Medina; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; (and his Case 4-WD backhoe, Kubota Tractor, and Ford dump truck). A Memorial Celebration will be held at Woodinville Community Church in Woodinville, WA on Sunday July 27, 2003 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances in Paul's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Habitat for Humanity, or to your favorite charity.
