Beverley Clark Obituary

Beverley Anne CLARK (Gallacci) Died September 16, 2007, after battling ovarian cancer for more than a year and a half. She is survived by her husband and partner of 22 years, Steven Gallacci; her mother, Trudy Clark of King City, OR; her sisters, Jeanette Dufrense (Lake Oswego, OR) and Deborah Minihan (West Linn, OR); and her friends and "chosen family" in Seattle and elsewhere. Beverley "Bev" Clark was born January 21, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, oldest child of Robert and Trudy Clark. The family moved to Los Angeles when Bev was 11. She graduated from Granada Hills High School and the University of California at Santa Cruz, and earned a master's degree in library science from the University of Oregon. A college trip brought Bev to Seattle for the first time and persuaded her that this was where she really wanted to live. She moved here in 1980 when a job opportunity presented itself at The Boeing Company. She worked for Boeing the entire time she lived in Seattle, first in technical and then in corporate communications. Outside work, Bev enjoyed science fiction fandom, gardening, reading, and travel. She was a former senior member of the Society for Technical Communication and a current member of the American Civil Liberties Union, Humane Society, and Friends of the Seattle Public Library, as well as the Democratic Party. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., October 4, at the UW Botanic Gardens Center for Urban Horticulture, Seattle, Washington. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Friends of the Seattle Public Library, King County Humane Society, or the American Civil Liberties Union.
