Bruce Healy Obituary

Bruce Healy

Bruce Raymond Healy, 81, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at his residence. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Born February 22, 1936 in Park Grove, MT, he was the son of Raymond and Bernice (Boles) Healy. His family relocated to Spanaway, WA in the early 1950s and Bruce enlisted in the Marine Corp Reserves in 1953. In early 1954, he transferred into the US Navy and served his country for another three years.

After being honorably discharged, Bruce went to work running heavy equipment. He joined the Operating Engineers union and continued to work as an operator for forty years throughout the western US, first for Mid-Mountain Contractors and then Pilchuck Contractors.

Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his sons, grandsons, brothers and friends. He loved visiting family and friends and logged many miles adventuring in his motorhome and boat. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the Seahawks, Mariners and old John Wayne movies.

Bruce is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Nancy Healy; his sons Raymond (Janet) Healy of Cheney, WA and Rob (Lori) Healy of Kent, WA; his step-daughter Lori (Mike) Ricketts of Federal Way, WA; grandchildren Kelly (Andrew) Rillera of Renton, WA, Raymond (Nicole) Healy of Cheney, WA, Rob Healy of Seattle, WA, and Kenny (Andrea) Healy of Tacoma, WA; step-grandsons Matthew Wolanzyk of Lake Tapps, WA, Kurt Ricketts of Seattle, WA and Scott Ricketts of Tacoma, WA; and three great grandchildren, Jared, Maddox and Easton. He is also survived by his sisters Marlene Mowery of Great Falls, MT, Shirley (Steve) Carpenter of Las Vegas, NV, Betty Mowery of Missoula, MT and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Doug and Phillip Healy, and his step-son, David P. Jackson.

A private celebration of life was held by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project at: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/
