I joined the Navy the summer right after high school, in lieu of getting drafted into Uncle Sams Army. One thing led to another and two and a half years later I was living in BC Canada. I missed out on a lot of coming of age adventures with old school buddies, but from what I understand "Teacher Linde" had quite a bit of contact with the "Bulldogs" from the class of 68! I missed that.
What I didn´t miss was the everlasting impact that, my exceptional biology teacher and extraordinarily good human being, had on the entirety of my life and how I would always prioritize Mother Nature and it´s magnificent diversity of life, and importance of its "Dynamic Equilibrium", forever!
For this I thank you Mr. Linde

I learned so much in Biology and Advanced Biology. Mr. Linde inspired all students to excel in his classes in a most natural way. Some classmates I knew worked harder in his classes than any others simply because they wanted to.

Mr. Linde's eyes used to just sparkle with knowledge and wit! It was the only class I earned points in for the questions I asked :) I think of him fondly often and remember those I was in Advanced Biology class with and our trip to California. We found a new species of crab when on our dig in Coalinga, County, CA as well as a few live scorpions, giant fossilized oyster shells, and so much more! Biology was one of my favorite subjects thanks to Mr. Linde. Gary and I went to some of the Linde Christmas parties, great fun, then we moved near Index, WA and lost touch.

Mr. Linde was one of my favorite teachers at Foster. Fun, engaging, inspirational and smart. I loved his biology class and was thrilled to be a biology assistant! He did great things for all he taught. Thank you Mr. Linde for being there for us kids.

My deepest sympathy to his family.

I send my heart felt condolences to all family and friends of Mr. Linde. I am one of so very many students inspired by Mr. Linde, grateful I took Advanced Biology. He had the most respect for questions and those who asked him in his class. All of my sisters and I had him for one of our favorite teachers. EVER. He actually conducted his class on a points system which for whatever reason students not doing so well in other classes understood and understood that he cared for the success of every student. I never forgot finding Tardagrada (water bears) and seeing them and so many creatures under the many microscopes, dreading the frog dissection until I realized they came already in formaldehyde. Field trips to Salt Water Park! Our great trip down California, he had a contact so we could do a supervised fossil dig near Coalinga. We found a type of fossilized crab not previously discovered and so much more! I remember attending some of Mr. and Mrs. Linde's annual sort of Christmas gatherings and meeting many who were in one of my sister's (class of '65)class. Advanced Biology included many in the class of '69,though I was class of '68. Mr. Linde inspired many biologists, and scientists in many fields many I am sure who had never previously considered those for a career. My husband and I had many lovely years living in an open but wooded area, making sure that the little tree frog pond stayed even and never dried up. As I would sit and watch tadpole and salamander eggs hatch, and oh, water beetles fly, my thoughts would turn to Mr. Linde and all he taught us. So much went on in that pond! A creek cut through our yard and salmon would spawn every year, small creek, huge salmon! I hope all of you, along with me, keep Mr. Linde in your hearts forever! Now it is your turn to share.

Mr. Linde was that kind of teacher that was in touch with his students and it was impossible to not like the man. He had the ability to make you want to find the answers to his questions and with those answers, doors would open, leading to other avenues of absolute wonderment.
Mr. Linde gave me an everlasting appreciation of all the diversity that makes our biosphere what it is, and seeing and understanding that we are all part of an amazing Dynamic Equalibrium, that he opened our eyes, minds and hearts too.

Carl there will always be a special place in my heart and memory for you.
Thanks for giving all you did, your good work made everyone you touched a better person

Carl Linde, a remarkable science educator, and mentor, at the Pacific Science Center in the 1970's. I took this photo at the total eclipse in 1979. It is classic Carl, with his cap and pipe, making sure everyone was in on the action. With Science Center staff at the Rattlesnake Mountain/Batelle observatory in Southcentral Washington, Feb. 26th, 1979.

Carl and Jan were generous personally and professionally, cultivating the best in everyone around them. Carl trained and developed the skills and abilities of so many of us. May his good work live on through the many lives he inspired.

6-8-18 Thanks to Randy, Lisa, and family, for such a wonderful memorial. It was great to see so many friends, students and former staff from the Science Center, celebrating Carl's great legacy.

Mr. Linde was a great teacher. His joy in learning inspired his students. I was sad to learn of his passing, but am grateful to have shared some of his time here on earth. I and so many others are better for it.

After having gone to his memorial service it was comforting to see so much of him in not only the faces of his children, but in the wonderful job they did as hosts. He would be very proud.

Mr Linde inspired me to love Biology eventually majoring in it in college. I now teach and have used several of his labs as the basis for some of my own. I owe him much and have often thought of what he gave to me as a student so many years ago. Thanks, Mr Linde!

Peanuts. How many cans of peanuts did he get as a teacher?

Advanced Biology Club, hiking thru the Enchanted Valley and all the fun we had on our trips to California.

Carl continued to stay in touch as a friend through my life.

Mr. Linde was my favorite teacher (biology and biology assistant) at Foster High school. He was always positive, fair, kind and funny. Everything a great teacher should be! My sympathy to the family.

Carl was one of Phil Poppleton's good friends and shared many classroom ideas. I believe they met while training and working out the details of teaching the new Green Version of Inquiry. I think they worked together for the different biology and science conventions they put on. Phil died just 6 years ago and I thik all that group of outstanding dedicated sciences teachers is now gone. They all left many students with great sciece skills and many of these students have gone on into medical and science fields thanks to these superior teachers like Carl Linde. Carl Linde was a great leader, mentor, and educator, and a generous human being. He made as big a difference in my life as anyone ever did. I worked for him at the Pacific Science in the Science Interpreter program. He trained and developed the skills and talents of so many of us. I am grateful to him for who he was and all he did.

Here is a photo I took of Carl at the total eclipse in 1979. This is classic Carl, with his cap and pipe, and making sure everyone was in on the action. A number of the Science Center staff went to observe the eclipse in South/Eastern Washington, at what was then called Battelle Observatory.

Carl and Jan were generous personally and professionally, cultivating the best in everyone around them.

Thank you, Carl, from the bottom of my heart. In gratitude, appreciation, and love, for being a brilliant, intelligent, and generous human being. You made a difference in the world and lived a noble life. May your good work live through the many lives your inspired.

My deep condolences to Jan, and the family.

I had Mr. Linde as a Biology teacher in 1974-75. He was a teacher who knew how to teach. As a instructor at Boeing for 37 years I feel I used his style of teaching above all else. That was make learning fun. My memories of my years at Foster will always include Mr. Linde's class.
