Carol Isaacson Obituary

Carol Turner Isaacson

Born April 15, 1931. Personable and people-loving Carol died peacefully in her sleep on October 16, 2013 surrounded by her children. Loving daughter of Gilbert (Gib) and Gladys Turner, she filled their house with joy. She was born and raised in the small town of Snohomish, WA. She was the youngest of two, surviving her younger brother Leonard Turner. She reveled in friendships and played an active role at Snohomish High School.

Making her way to the University of Washington, she loved being a member of the Delta Gama Sorority house, meeting her roommate Jane Isaacson, later to become her sister in law who has always thought of mom as her own sister. Her beauty, style and poise caught the attention of Henry Isaacson, Jr., "Hank", son of Martha and Henry Isaacson. After a short courtship, they were married in February, 1951 at the Snohomish Trinity Church.

In short order, she became the mother of five children, Susan, Jody, Ike, Tom and John. Her other involvements included The Children's Orthopedic Guild, Jr. League, Colonial Dames, Sunset Club, Seattle Garden Club, Seattle Tennis Club, Seattle Yacht Club, University Club, and Seattle Golf Club, yet, without a doubt, her truest calling was raising the five of us. She was always encouraging, kind and involved in our myriad of various activities. Our house was always fun, teaming with kids and a whirlpool of action. She loved the many summers spent on Bainbridge Island with close friends, dogs, boating and again, more sandy-haired kids!

Carol had many interests including tennis, bridge, reading, gardening, genealogy and last but not least, she was an accomplished piano player and loved to sing on every occasion.

Carol and Hank loved to travel and visited most sites around the world. After years of marriage, our father Henry Isaacson Jr. passed away on May 12, 1992. Two years later, she was courted by Peter Rawn and they wed in 1995, enjoying years of companionship and welcoming into her life, step-daughter Marcy Rawn & step-son Alan Rawn.

She was dearly beloved by her many friends and felt equally blessed by them. Known for her kind, generous nature and infectious laughter, her spirit uplifted many. She lit up every room she entered, shining brightly throughout her life. She truly epitomized the words Grace and Beauty and touched people's lives with a magical wand.

She is survived by daughters, Susan (Richard), Jody (Steve)and step-daughter Marcy Rawn, who she thought of as her own and Susie Hennricks; sons Henry Isaacson III (Claire), Tom (Tracy) and John (Shay); grandsons, Finn Turner, Gib, Gus and Henry and granddaughter Bella.

She will be sorely missed by us all!

Services and a celebration of her life will be held upon further notice. Remembrances in Carol's name may be made to Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.

I will always remember Carol & Hank's wedding and the yellow pokadot dresses we wore at the wedding. I will never forget bady sitting for Carol and Hank's kids on Bainbridge Island. Lots of good memories which I will never forget.

Carol and Hank were our neighbors for many years. What a delightful woman she was, always hospitable and easily able to fit unexpected guests invited by Hank around her dinner table. She was beautiful inside and out and an absolute joy to be around. St. Peter has welcomed her with open arms.
