Edna was raised at Fort Belknap, Harlem, Montana on a cattle ranch with her stepfather, George Washington Cochran and mother Agnes Mary Berry Cochran. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood on the ranch. She loved riding her horse, Fly. They had a close and special friendship and he was her favorite horse of all time. Her longtime pet, Saint Bernard, Colonel, would pull her sled in the snow. Edna drove a tractor at an early age and learned to drive a car by the age of 12. She attended Harlem High School, 14 miles from the ranch. Her father would let her drive his brand new Chrysler to school. Edna enjoyed sharing her memories of growing up in Montana. Thank you to Dr. Stimson, Dr. Huseby, Dr. Vankireddy, caring nurses and caregivers. She was so thankful for all of the prayers and love she received from all of us. She dealt with so much pain and discomfort, we must always remember her courage and how fearless and brave she was. Mom was always very open minded, independent, strong willed and optimistic through the five year journey in which lung cancer led her to a final surrender. Her happiest times and greatest joys were being with her family. Thank you mother, for all of your love. We were so fortunate to have had mom with us for so long. Now we keep all of our memories of her love, kindness, and goodness with us in our hearts forever. I said to her, "Get on your horse Mama and ride," and so now she does. We ask that you keep mother in your prayers. God bless you Mama, may you rest in peace. As requested by Edna, there will be no services.
