Charles Maslow Obituary

Charles Maslow

1941 ~ 2017

Charles "Charlie" Maslow, age 76, well-known Seattle restaurateur, died peacefully on April 17, 2017, from complications of diabetes.

Charlie was born on February 24, 1941 to David and Gertrude Maslow of Hackensack, NJ. He attended Hackensack public schools, Cooper Union, and graduated CSU, Long Beach School of Engineering.

Charlie began his professional career as a structural engineer at North American Aviation. In 1965 Charlie moved to Seattle to work at Boeing. With the collapse of the aircraft industry in the early 1970s, Charlie and wife, Mary, established and ran The Iron Horse in Pioneer Square and Hamburger Pacific in Bellevue; railroad themed restaurants where the food was delivered to your table by train.

Charlie ventured into other fields while running the restaurant, including real estate and full-size railroading. He served for several years as president of the Puget Sound Railway Historical Society, which still operates the Puget Sound Railway Museum in Snoqualmie WA.

Charlie sold the restaurants and retired in 1988. He is survived by his sons, Clifford and Todd, and siblings Louis and Susan.

I´am so sorry to learn of Charles, passing we lived in the same multi family house on 78 Atlantic St, in Hackensack NJ,you could have made the TV series The Goldbergs there, I remember Gert and Dave Maslow and Bubbie, & Louis well, tell a kid today you left the house at 5am, walked the 3 blocks to your newspaper stand by the train to NY and at 11 or twelve Gert would bring you a sandwich, then many times you would walk the two or three miles to Farleigh Dickerson University, never happen today, please remember me to Louis, sorry I don´t have clear memories of Susan, it would be nice to hear from Louis, Thank you
