Charlie and I worked together in the SED. He was a great friend. His sense of humor kept us all laughing. I went to theatre and jazz with him. He was a gentleman.

Without Charlie Shell, I might not have made it through grad school at the U of Oregon.. He was a trusted friend. He introduced me to the wonders of the Pacific Northwest. We'd do hiking day trips. With another friend, thanks to Charlie, I worked my way up to a six day backpacking trip into the Olympic National Forest, something I would have though impossible just a few years previous. Rest in Peace, Charlie. I wish we could have had just one more day trip.

Charlie and I worked together at the Seattle Department of Transportation. He introduced me to the Seattle jazz scene and we spent many fun evenings at Tula's in Belltown. Thanks Charlie. You were generous of spirit and gentle of heart.
