Clyde Wardlow Obituary

Clyde "Duane" Wardlow

Clyde "Duane" Wardlow of Mukilteo passed away August 7, 2017 at Providence Hospital in Everett surrounded by his large and loving family.

Duane was born in Washougal, WA on July 2, 1932. He grew up in Hoquiam, WA where he developed his love of fishing, clam digging, the beaches and the outdoors. He graduated from Hoquiam High School where he made lasting friendships and played many sports. He received a football scholarship to the University of Washington from 1950-1954. He was an All-American defensive end and graduated with a degree in business administration. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and played pro football prior to and after his induction to the army.

He later worked as a road surveyor in Hoquiam before moving to Seattle where he began a successful 40 year career as an Allstate Insurance agent.

Duane loved to fish, play golf and spend time on the internet. He and Linda loved travelling and just spending time with each other. He enjoyed vacations to Egypt, China, Spain and Russia as well as Alaska, Caribbean and Baltic cruises. He looked forward to spending time at their vacation home in Tucson, AZ. where he liked sitting out on the patio watching the birds, rabbits, and maybe a javelina. He also loved to play dice games while sipping an occasional margarita or two.

He is survived by Linda, his wife of 36 years, brother Jack (Cindy), sister Sandy (Paul), sister in law Dee, son Don (Carol), daughters Dian Brt (Todd) and Linda Kynaston. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren whom he adored - Tim (Alanna), Nick (Jessica), Anthony (Mahsa), Brian, Amber (Riley), Michael, Ryan and Jordan and great grandchildren Dylan, Kaylee, Alanna, Isaiah and Olivia.

He was a very humble, kind and gentle man who never raised his voice. His family was the most important thing to him and he was so proud of all of them. He was so blessed to have attended the weddings of two grandchildren and another's graduation from law school in the three months preceding his death.
