David Sidell Obituary

David Morris SIDELL A life long resident of Seattle, passed away on November 13, 2007. He was born on June 16, 1922 to Max and Tessie Sidell. He attended Horace Mann Elementary School, Garfield High School, and the University of Washington. He was dedicated to his family's metal business where he was active at the time of his passing as president. Even as the business environment became less formal, he insisted on wearing a dress shirt and tie to work every day. He married his high school sweetheart, Amy Levin, with whom he just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Together, they enjoyed boating, travel, Husky football, philanthropy, family, and friends. He looked forward to cruising among the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands on his boat, Shalmar, every summer and spending winters with his family in Hawaii. His greatest pleasure was when his family gathered for celebratory dinners. He always had the brightest smile and raised his glass first to deliver a special toast for every occasion. He was a longtime member of Congregation Bikur Cholim, Seattle Yacht Club, and Glendale Country Club where he scored a hole in one. He is survived by his wife, Amy, daughter, Sheila Sternberg (Craig), sons, Alan (Carol), and Marc (Judy). He adored his six grandchildren- Mimi, Becky, Judy, Max, Michael and Alexa--and four great grandchildren who lovingly called him Gramps. He was a kind, thoughtful, and generous person who will leave a lasting impression on his family, friends, and community. Services will be conducted at the Bikur Cholim Cemetery on Wednesday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Caroline Kline Galland Home, the Jewish Family Service, or a charity of your choice.
