Dianne Woody Obituary

Dianne H. Woody

Dianne H. Woody passed away on July 9, 2016. She served as State Senator from the 39th District of Snohomish and King Counties from 1977-1985. During her time in the legislature she served as Secretary of the Senate Democratic Caucus, Chair of the Constitution and Elections Committee, and was also on the Energy and Utilities; Judiciary; Parks and Recreation; Local Government; Rules; and Ways and Means Committees. She also was a Small Business Owner, a Social Worker and an Administrator at DSHS.

Dianne graduated from Western Washington University and did post-graduate work at the University of Washington. She raised her family in Woodinville with her husband, Senator Frank J. Woody, who predeceased her in 1977. She is survived by her son, Patrick Woody, who resides in Hawaii, and her daughter, Elizabeth Woody Lindquist, and her two children, Jackson and Evan Mary, who reside in Seattle.

Donations in her name can be made to the WEA Children's Fund which enables teachers to provide children in their classroom with the basic necessities such as a warm coat or backpack: www.washingtonea.org/childrensfund.

I will miss auntie Dianne for her love of animals, love of beads and daring to do what she wanted to do. Whenever I hear a bell I think of her cats that she tied bells to so they couldn't harm birds.
