Mom. I miss you so much. The last year was pretty bad and although I know you were with me I sure would have liked to be able to get your advice and comfort.

Grandma and I in Washington DC, April 2013. Glad we got to spend that time together. We had fun.

Thanks for the almost 2 decades of friendship and all the treats you made for us at Trojan. In particular the "dirt" cake you made for my 50th birthday and the special carrot cake(without nuts) you made for me so I could finally know what everyone would rave about. You are missed very much, Doris.

I met Grandma Doris when Katie and I became fast friends at Chinook Middle School. She was welcoming with her warm hospitality. She baked me batches of carrot cake mini- loaves after hearing from Katie how I love it so much! It was heart-warming how she was both a grandma and mom to my best friend.
Grandma Doris is now resting in peace with no more pain. She is probably up there baking and cooking up a storm with my mom.
I miss you and I love you. You were like a grandma to me as well.
I am sorry I cannot make it to your celebration of life in August as that is the exact weekend of my mom's anniversary of her passing. I will be out of town then with family.
Rest in peace, Grandma Doris! We love you!

Aunt Doris, I feel so fortunate to have a Heart full of wonderful memories from our summer vacations to your house, as a child and then an adult bringing my own kids. I will miss your Smile, your contagious Laugh, your deep Love for Family. Your carrot cake with nuts! of course, will never be replaced. My Heart will Smile when I think of YOU! And I will rejoice with hugs and tears when we see each other again.

For several years Doris would make deserts for my Mothers birthday parties and make a carrot cake for me every time I came to town, best carrot cake EVER!! she was a truly wonderful lady. I had the pleasure of spending time with Doris a couple months ago, we had a long heart felt conversation, I will cherish that moment as long as I live, very proud to have called her my friend.

Your my grandma, my mom and my little Dorito. I am o happy that you were/are my grandma. I love you so much and you have done so much for me during my 35 years of life. Without you I would not be the person I am today. I miss calling you for no reason, or just to talk about my day. I miss skyping you from North Carolina. I am so happy I had you there for me and in my corner for so long. I appreciate it so much, and more than you will ever know. I am so happy I got to live with you for what seems like forever, and that you helped raise me. You were much more than a grandma to me. You are my hero. I only wish I could have been there to take care of you and be your nurse the way you always were for me when I was sick or had surgery. I just miss you so much. I know you're ok, but it's hard for me. I miss calling you and hearing your voice. I wish I had saved all the voicemails you left me. I want you to know the cat is doing wonderful. He has adjusted well despite Sasha being jealous. He even went to the vet and so far has gotten a clean bill of health. I miss you and love you more than anything. Katie.

I worked at Trojan Litho with Doris for ten years from 1990 till 2000. She was a fabulous friend and never had a bad word to say about anybody or anything. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing, and my condolences to her family and friends. We were all a special family in that print shop that could never be duplicated anywhere. To go to work in the morning was a pleasure some people never get to understand like we did. Rest in Peace Doris.... we all will miss you very much.

I was blessed to have been accepted into your family and loved having you as my mother-in-law. Thank you for the penny you left me in the freezer the other day. These little signs help us remember that our loved ones really aren't that far away and still sending us their love. I love you and will miss you forever.
