Earl McNeil Obituary

Earl Wayne McNEIL July 24, 1924 - April 1, 2003 Earl Wayne McNeil, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 1, 2003 at the Guardian Angel in Richland, Washington. Wayne was born in Bremerton, Washington. He enlisted in the Army on May 27, 1943. He was assigned to the 762 Military Police Battalion and was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Wayne was honorably discharged January 5, 1946. He then attended the University of Washington where he met Lorraine McDonald. They were married on June 24, 1946. They moved to Magnolia after a few years, where they lived for 38 years. Earl starting his own business, NW Inspection Bureau in 1954. "Mac" inspected damage freight for truck lines for 40 years. He was known for his humor, words of wisdom and infectious smile. Wayne also enjoyed watching his three children, Don, Tom and Mary, play sports and other activities. He enjoyed playing tennis, snow skiing, hiking, dancing and tending to his garden. Wayne retired in 1994. He and Lorraine moved to Kennewick, Washington. Earl is preceded in death by parents, William and Elda, wife, Lorraine and son, Don McNeil. He is survived by son, Tom McNeil, daughter, Mary Opitz: four grandchildren, Misty and Kali McNeil and Tyler and Nick Opitz; brother's Bob, Bill and Manford McNeil. At his request there will be no service. There will be a Celebration of Life on May 29, 2003 at the Shilshole Bay Beach Club, 6413 Seaview Ave. N.W., Seattle from 1-3 p.m. for both Lorraine and Wayne. Anyone wishing to attend to share in their lives are welcome to attend.
