Erselle Eade Obituary

Erselle Eade

Erselle Eade died suddenly after the death of her husband, Gil Eade, MD. Erselle was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to George and Bertie Stowers on June 12, 1921. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class, continued her education earning an RN degree, and then graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Social Anthropology and an MA in Values. She was president of the King County Medical Society Auxiliary and served in many community leadership positions throughout her life. She is most recently remembered as the mayor of Hunts Point. She served as mayor for 11 years. She also served as chair of suburban cities. Always an adventurer, she was game for anything and traveled the world. She climbed Mt Rainer and Mt. Kilimanjaro when she was in her 50s and played on a women's soccer team. She led hiking trips through the Alps in the summer and ski trips in the winter. She studied German and Spanish and wrote poetry. A voracious reader, she read two newspapers a day and belonged to several book clubs. She enjoyed political discussions and politics. She served in both the Republican Women and the Washington Democrats organization at different times in her life. At her request there will be no services. She is survived by her children, Nancy Gray, Catherine Eade, Mary Elizabeth Karpel, Margaret Eade, Norman Eade, grandchildren Ben Stabler, Erselle Stabler, Morgan Elizabeth Eade and Kendall Eade, and great grandchildren Amelia Stabler and Eli Gilbert Stabler.

So saddened to learn that Erselle passed away. What a full and incredible life she lived. I worked with Gil as a young woman. They were both so kind and giving. My condolences to you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Having both parents pass away in such a short time must be an incredible shock. Please, the entire Eade clan, accept my sincere condolences. Your Mom and Dad were an amazing couple.

Dear Mrs. Mayor,
Well done Erselle, you are now back together with your soulmate!

Congratulations on a life well lived. You raised a beautiful family and you contributed generously to society making a difference for good in the world. (even going so far as "working both sides of the isle"-as a democrat & republican, knowing that is the only way to move legislation along.)

You now get the chance to meet the "master creator"-- of all the world's great mountains that you so enjoyed hiking, skiing and climbing! What a great "discussion" that will be for you...

Our love & prayerful thoughts are with your family.
