Eva Kragness Obituary

Eva M. (Buhr) Kragness

Eva Buhr Kragness was born July 28, 1924, the daughter of Jurgen and Petra Buhr in Elk Lake Township, Grant County, MN. She attended school in Hoffman, MN, and graduated from Hoffman High School in 1942. She pursued her education at Moorhead State Teachers College. Eva taught kindergarten and first grade at Halstad, MN, from 1944-48.

On June 12, 1948 she married Vernon H. Kragness. The couple moved to Burien in 1955, which was her home until September of 2011 when she moved to Wahpeton to live with her daughter, Laurel Stumbo.

Eva loved her Savior, her family and her church friends, especially the women of the Love Circle at Glendale Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, Bible study and being with family and friends.

Eva is survived by her children: Paul (Nancy) Kragness, Seattle; Cynthia Schmelzle, Kent, WA; Laurel (Bruce) Stumbo, Wahpeton; Marcus (Dawn) Kragness, Bothell, WA; Dana (Tom) Rhodes, Bolivar, MO; grandchildren: Paulette, Heather (Dave), Stephanie (Brad), Hillary (Dave), Sara (Jeremy), Christopher (Erin), Benjamin (Jennifer), Joshua, Nathan, Meghann and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Rena, Jackson, Kylie, Ava, Holly, Caleb, Dillon, Jacob, Ryan, Monica and Ariel; her sister, Sylvia Wischow, Hinckley, MN.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Jurgen and Petra Buhr; her husband, Vernon Kragness (2003); sister, Margaret Wright; brothers-in-law, Bert Wright and Halvor Wischow; son-in-law, Thomas Schmelzle.

There will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at GLENDALE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Burien, WA.
