Frank Pritt Obituary

Frank Pritt, III

Frank Pritt, 75, of Issaquah WA, died Tuesday July 28th, 2015. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of this death at Overlake Hospital. Frank is survived by his uncle, George Pritt, his brother, Wayne Pritt his children Ronda Waite, Laura Lee Pritt, Darren Pritt, his step children Kelsey Daviscourt and Ashley Wiegman, his sons in law, Don Waite and Jeff Daviscourt, his daughter in law, Janine Pritt, his grandchildren Cybil Waite, Madeline Waite, Dallas Waite, Hannah Beyler, Brandon Beyler, Wilson Pritt, Chance Pritt and Finley Daviscourt. Frank was born in Charleston W.VA on June 5, 1940 and spent his youth in Charleston living at 714 Jane Street. Frank attended Stonewall Jackson High School, graduating class of 58', where Frank was an All-City Football player. Frank was also very active in his church, Bream Presbyterian Church, as a youth leader. After high school Frank went west to Inglewood California where he attended and graduated from Northrup University in 1962 with an Electrical Engineering degree. While living in Inglewood, Frank met and married his first wife Julia Pritt. Together they raised three children, Ronda, Laura Lee and Darren. After being married, Frank moved his family back to Charleston W. VA, where Frank worked for Union Carbide and IBM. Frank then moved his family back to Southern California in 1968 and began working for CCI another technology company as a product manager. Frank then took another job as a product manager for Harris Corporation and moved his family to Plano Texas in 1972. In 1978, while still working for Harris, Frank and family moved to Bellevue, WA where he took a job as a regional sales representative selling 3270 mainframe terminals. While living in Bellevue, Frank and his wife Julia started and managed a 3270 emulation software company, Attachmate Corp., that grew to become one of the most successful privately held software companies in the history of Washington State. Frank and Julia divorced in 1991 and he relocated to Southern California. In 1994 Frank married Melanie Pritt and moved to Corona Del Mar CA. While living in Southern California Frank and Melanie raised two children, Kelsey and Ashley, and built a notable house they named the "Portabello" which was showcased on "Oprah". In 2005 Frank sold his business, Attachmate, and retired. During his life Frank enjoyed many things. In his early years Frank spent many weekends doing home improvements and gardening. He was also very involved in his children's lives with activities such as Boy Scouts, Indian Princesses and planning many fun family vacations. Frank was also an adventurer, car enthusiast and artist/craftsman. He was a certified scuba diver and dived the Great Barrier Reef. He captained his own boat; a 57' Tolley Craft named "Sittin' Pritty" on many a sea adventure that included a trip from Newport Beach CA, through the Panama Canal, to the Florida Keys. Frank owned, at one point, a substantial car collection that included historic racing cars. One car of note was the 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C-2300 "Rimoldi" Corto Spyder, a car he regularly raced at historic races and rallies including the "Mille Miglia" race in Italy. Frank enjoyed an array of artistic endeavors that included jewelry design, sculpting and casting in bronze, and woodworking that resulted in crafting a large scale replica of a Hawaiian outrigger. After retirement, Frank slowed down to spend more time with his family. He moved to Mercer Island WA and purchased a home in Kiehi Maui, splitting his time between both places. In 2013 Frank divorced and moved to Issaquah WA and purchased a cottage on Lake Sammamish where he could spend more time with his children and grandchildren. This cottage he affectionately named the "Pritty Pad". Besides being a family man, a business man and an adventurer Frank was also philanthropist later in life giving away more than 75 million dollars to various causes including an endowment for prostate cancer research at the University of Washington. Frank lived an "EXTRA" extraordinary life touching the lives of many along the way. His family will greatly miss him in all his affection and laughter. His memorial service will be Friday August 14, at 1 pm at the University Presbyterian Church where flowers and condolences can be sent. When I look back at my career, the fondest memories are of my time spent at Attachmate. Frank fostered an environment of learning and trust. I knew that Attachmate was a very special company, because of Frank. There was a reason that the logo was a heart. Frank and Julia created that heart, and cared about every employee. Rest In Peace, Boss.

I was so sorry to hear that Frank had passed. He was a leader with great vision and passion. The culture he created at Attachmate was one-of-a-kind, just like Frank. I know he is coming up with some great slogans in heaven now. RIP.

I have the fondest memories of working with Frank for many years at Attachmate. I remember Frank as an inspiring and visionary leader as well as a compassionate and caring person.
I am honored that I had the opportunity to work with Frank and to grow and learn from such a creative genius. I loved his 10% thoughts and ideas. His Frankisms were priceless. His Town Halls were always a surprise and true entertainment.
His passion for his family, friends and employees was beyond measure. He was sincere and thoughtful to everyone he met. He gave generously to his employees, his community and those less fortunate. He was the heart and soul of Attachmate and will always have a special place in my heart.
My sincerest condolences go out to Frank's family. My thoughts are with you all during this sad time.
Thank you, Frank, for the wonderful memories. You will never be forgotten.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Frank's family. Find comfort in all the wonderful memories he left behind, and knowing the joy you brought to his life.

I can still hear his sweet whistle as he walked through the halls of Attachmate, the delight he took in personally handing out our Christmas bonuses, his fabulous dance moves and twinkling bow tie and that beautiful voice when he sang us Blue Christmas!

Anyone who had the chance to work for or meet Frank was truly blessed to have had that opportunity. I am one of those lucky ones and Frank will always hold a special place in my heart.

He was the heart of Attachmate!

Frank was simply Frank.
You got what you saw..
Nothing more, nothing less.
We grew up together.
we grew old together.
As kids, we seldom hung out together,
but we always knew where each other was.
Frank never boasted about his success,
he was simply Frank.
He was btother

I will miss you, Frank.

During the years I worked for you, and for many years after, I learned from you. I learned that the greatest opportunities arise when things seem most dire. I learned to be proud of what we had; even when the next release would be ever so much better. I learned humility, that the mistakes we make are their own opportunity to learn and recover. Most of all, I learned that life including business should be fun.

You were a colorful, glorious man. Your laughter was infectious. Your neon shoelaces, incredibly odd at the time, inspired free thinking. Your creativity was genius. And your social generosity was truly remarkable. The lessons I learned from you will follow me the rest of my life.

You were a good man, Frank. Thank you believing in me.

Our love is sent to the Pritt family and our prayers are lifted for your comfort and peace as you grieve Frank's passing. Thank you for sharing your dad with us. We have such great memories at the Portabello and Mercer Island homes and recently at his Sammamish home. He was so hospitable and inclusive, even of us "outlaws." He will be deeply missed.

Frank Pritt Family.

Frank married my niece, Melanie, and together they and their collective families created indelible memories for The Eckstein family, that I know are well understood by Frank's close friends and immediate family. Frank not only lived an "EXTRA", extraordinary life but he also ensured this was a gift he shared with family and friends. AND SHARE HE DID! The celebrations organized were many and intricately planned with family, friends and other guests as the beneficiaries. And, Frank, with great pride and humility never forgot where he came from. He obviously was taught to respect all people, but his treatment and manner with all senior family members was touching and heart warming to witness. And, how appropriate the names of Cybil (his mom) and Wilson (his dad) are repeated among his grandchildren.

The road of life is never as smooth as we would all like, but God's grace and mercy endures forever. We give thanks for Frank's life and God's blessings when darkness appears all around.

With love and affection to the family--Jim & Joan Eckstein

Our sincere condolences for the Pritt family. We have great memories of Frank, but the most important one is that he was such a humble and accessible person. He made my first impression of a chairman very impressive. Our prayers are with the family. May he rest in peace.
