George Pallis Obituary

George Chris PALLIS 76, born April 1, 1927, Seattle, son of Greek immigrants Chris and Stamatina Pallis, died June 23, 2003. Firm in his convictions, yet calm and loving in demeanor, he was a prince among gentlemen. George, darling husband and dedicated father, is survived by wife Venetia of 45 years, son Chris and wife Vicki, son Demetre and wife Iska, daughter Stellee and husband Gregory Papadeas and six beloved grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy. Graduate of Franklin High School in Seattle, he founded Pallis Realty in 1954. Through his real estate career of nearly 50 years, he established lifelong friendships with clients, business associates and local residents. With an office in Columbia City, he came to be known as "The Mayor of Columbia City". He was widely respected within the Seattle real estate community, and in 1968 was awarded Realtor of The Year by the Seattle King County Board of Realtors. He was also a member of the Rainier Chamber of Commerce. In addition to Pallis Realty, he established G.P. Builders, which built homes, apartment buildings and several commercial projects. A lifelong member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, he served as an altar boy in his youth, and later as parish council member. He was also an original member of the St. Demetrios building committee, responsible for building the current church facilities. He also enjoyed coaching the St. Demetrios boys' basketball team, and most recently served as an Officer and Trustee of the John P. Angel Foundation. He was a Charter Director of All Saints Camp & Retreat Center, and was dedicated to working for children's causes. He enjoyed chaperoning young adult ski trips, which gave him a great feeling of youthfulness. An avid golfer, he enjoyed a single-digit handicap in earlier years. In 1989, he was Senior Club Champion at Sand Point Golf & Country Club, and served on its Board of Trustees. He loved to go fishing with his sons and was so proud of his 52 pound salmon caught in Alaska. He also proudly served his country in the Army and Merchant Marines. Services 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28th at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 Boyer Avenue East, Seattle, WA. 98112, (206) 325-4347. Memorials to: Kids 'N Cancer, or Tree of Life, c/o St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Arrangements, BONNEY-WATSON Capitol Hill

My condolences to the family on your loss. I only had the opportunity to meet George one time - the first impressions were lasting - fun, sincere, welcoming, intelligent and a true gentleman. I feel fortunate to have met him.

Boy - what can I truly say at this time. When I heard of George's passing, my life flashed by me in a micro-second. I guess to say that I have know George all my life is an understatement. He will be missed - but he leaves behind a wonderful wife who loved him dearly and three grown up children that any parent would be so very proud to call their own. Here's to our memories of Greek School, the GAPA and of course Maloney's Grove! Eternal be your memory George. My deepest love to the family.Cleo (Dallas) Blackstone
