George was the kind of guy I'll never forget. We have traveled the road of life together since very early days in Laurelhurst- first as tiny classmates and then throughout the years 'til we graduated from Central Washington University. George was a good neighbor, friend and listener throughout. Occassionally in our post-college years we managed to touch base; he was always just the "right guy" at the right time. I will miss his friendly face and tales of his life's adventures. I know that his was a life well-lived. My very deepest prayers go out to all his friends and family during this time of great loss. He will always be in our hearts.

George was our first friend on Camano. He extended his humour and wisdom and warmth to us from the moment he met us.

He was a welcome sight coming our way in the distance with Taffy, and a welcome drop in on his bike or in his car.

We just loved his company and all the fun we had. We considered ourselves fortunate to have known him.

We wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family.

George was fun to work with. He was, admittedly, "Old School". His information about clients and orders came right out of a well used notepad. He, and his sense of humor will be missed.

After reading the entries in this guest book I see that everyone saw the same George that we knew at Liberty Orchards (Aplets & Cotlets). I've worked here for 21 years and it was a privilege to know George most of those years. He worked closely with the plant manager, Larry Pace, until he retired a few years ago. George drove across the mountains to attend Larry's retirement party. Then George stopped by Larry's house several times when in this area. George also came over for Larry's funeral just a year or so ago. He was a TRUE FRIEND as well as a business associate. Again, George always asked about my sons and what they were doing. I usually caught up on George's children and what they were doing. George was very proud of his family. It was a joy and pleasure to know a godly man who loved his family and enjoyed life so very much. God is rejoicing for sure! May God hug each one of you tightly and carry you through the "missing you" times!

To Jill and family and Dave,

George and I go back to Pee Wee league football at Laurelhurst in about 1958. After that we attended Eckstein and Roosevelt and headed our separate ways to college and the real world. We stayed in periodic yet too infrequent touch over the years but occasionally brought together by our brothers Dave and Mic. How I wish we would have had one more lunch together and one more golf game.

The great thing about George was that even if it had been years, he always picked up right where we left off and asked about my family, their whereabouts and successes. He unfailingly asked about my parents with true sincerity.

All in all, I don't know of a better person. I'm so sorry he's left you and us so soon, but we are all better for having been George's friends.

With love and sympathy,

I met George about 16 years ago in the packaging world. I found George to be a fair and honest man and one that was well respected by his friends and co-workers. He will be missed by many. My thoughts are with George's family during this very sad time.

I met George a few years ago in

person and since then as he passed the 12th green he always waved when he saw me. I was very impressed as to how he always recognized me and gave a friendly wave as he played the game he loved. I think that George had a way of helping a person feel better about life, themselves and things in general - a rare gift...

George and I had a joke telling exchange, every time he came into Evergreen Wholesale, during the good times and the bad ones at Evergreen, he always had a "Hey Tom, have you heard the one about", of course I had to respond no, but tell me. Then it was my turn. I am deeply sadded by the loss of a true gentleman. My prayers go out to The family. As God can heal all sorrows and help see hope, believe this during your time of grief. God Bless all of the West family

I am saddened to hear of the loss of George. I lived a few blocks from where George and Dave grew up. We attended Laurelhurst Grade School, Nathan Eckstein, and Roosevelt together. My best wishes to his wife and family.

My time knowing George was short. But the George I did know was a very nice man, just wanted to see my prayers are with your family.

Those individuals that bring us the most joy and happiness in life, bring out the most tears in us, tears through broken smiles and remembered laughter and fond memories. George was a great man, always above that of a mere acquaintance, always happy to take an extra step in those very unique shoes he seemed to always find that matched up with an equally unique shirt that always brought a smile out of those that knew and loved him. He will always be remembered and never forgotten. My sincerest regrets for those that didn't get a chance to meet George...it was my pleasure to know such a great soul, that blessed us with his time and caring while he walked among us. A soul that left a mark upon this world, to George West.
