Hello!
I did not know Glen, but have been doing family research on Marrowstone Island where the Ramstead family lived. George King who is in his mid 80's knows that I have been interested in the Ramsteads and called me the other day to tell me of Glen's obituary. George lived a short distance south of the Ramsteads along Ft Flagler Road. George said that he and some of the Ramstead boys used to "pal around" together. The Ramstead kids would come down where George lived. George was living at the home of his grandfather, Martin Thompson. - Now please let me explain why I became interested in the Ramsteads! In 1889 my husband's great grandfather, Andrew Anderson and his son Ben bought 20 acres of land there on Marrowstone Island - part of this land is where the Ramsteads later lived. In 1892 Andrew Anderson sold the east half - 10 acres to Martin Thompson who was at that time living where the golf course is now. (By 1900 Martin Thompson had moved just south of where Nolton Road connects with Ft Flagler Road. The Thompson house - now the George King house is on the water side of the road.) By 1906 Andrew's brother Torkel/Tom Anderson deeded the 10 acres to Andrew's daughter Christina and her husband Peter Madsen. in 1919 Madsen sold this property to James Jennings and his wife Grace. Between 1937 and 1939 Jennings sold this property to the Ramstead family. In the book, "Marrowstone" (a history of the island), the authors said that the Jennings built a house IN FRONT OF THE OLD ANDERSON CABIN. I wrote to one of the "Marrowstone" author's, Jeanne Bean, and she wrote back to me in 1992 that "The Jennings house stood until about 10 years ago, when someone wrecked it out, _ I'm not sure who." - - - - This is my question: When the Ramstead family was living there on Marrowstone Island, was the old Anderson cabin behind the house still in existence? Could someone in the family send me an email about what they remember about any old cabin behind the house? ! I asked George King if he remembered the cabin, but he said he didn't play with the Ramstead kids at their house, they always came down to his place. He had seen their house from the road, but wasn't really familiar with the place otherwise. . . George thought that Glen was one of the older kids. . .
Thanks so much for any help you can give us!

Our Dad Loved all his family so much.He told the best stories that we should have recorded. He could tell you the names of all his mates he served with and how much they meant to Him as well.He loved all animals including a few dozen dogs he liked to buy hotdogs for and any animal rescue persons were tops to Him. All His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss him so much. Love Forever, Your Middle Daughter, Candy M.Singleton

Our father led a colorful life but throughout was never far from his roots, drawn back to those roots of family, values, home, and faith. His sunny disposition delighted us all seasoned with a salty flair. A brilliant and talented man in many ways, never counting material gain as something to seek after, as his generosity to anyone who had a need meant more to him. At his core, our father had a tender heart. He was loved and cherished and will be greatly missed. His daughter, Kathleen
