H. Douglas Miller Obituary

H. Douglas MILLER Born: Tacoma, WA, March 14, 1918 Died: Seattle, WA, March 31, 2006 M. Eldoris MILLER Born: Tacoma, WA, January 13, 1923 Died: Seattle, WA, April 22, 2006 H. Douglas Miller died in Seattle on March 31, 2006 after a prolonged illness. His sister Eldoris Miller passed away unexpectedly three weeks later, on April 22, 2006, following a brief battle with leukemia. Doug and his sister Eldoris were born and raised in Tacoma, WA. Their parents met in Tacoma, but were born in Denmark. As a result, Doug and Eldoris were devoted to Danish heritage and culture. They were members of the Danish Club and active in the Danish community. Together they explored Patagonia, South Africa, Hungary, Turkey, and many other countries. However, no trip to Europe was complete or successful without a visit to family and friends in Denmark. Doug graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He worked for Libby, McNeil & Libby and was later employed by Allied Stores. Working from New York, Doug traveled through the United States as an auditor. In 1988 he retired from the finance office of the Bon Marche in Seattle. Eldoris graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Tacoma, then served with the Army Nursing Corps in WWII. After the war, Eldoris graduated from the University of Washington School of Nursing. She worked as head nurse in the neonatal unit of Virginia Mason Hospital and retired as a nursing management advisor in the late 1980's. Both Eldoris and Doug were ardent Husky alumni, and never missed "home" games. But, in later years they cheered the Huskies from their own home with their beloved kitties in their laps. Doug and Eldoris were committed Christians and active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Seattle. All of their friends and family mourn their departure. Contributions to their memory can be made to First Presbyterian Chuch of Seattle, or the American Cancer Society.
