Sister Eileen was a classic and lovely representative of the Holy Names Sisterhood and a true Holy Names Graduate. My first connections with her were over twenty years ago over scholarship funds being raised by our class of 65.
Sister Eileen was always gracious and appreciative of all efforts on behalf of furthering the cause of the fine education at Holy Names: her thank you notes were beautiful and so prompt.
In addition I must say how much I appreciated her comforting attendance at my mother's funeral mass. My condolences to all her family, dear friends, fellow sisters, and broad HNA community.

My father, Ray Clark, was Ilene's brother.
As I think of the celebration of her life, and the people coming together today in Seattle, I am a world away on the shores of southern France - a country so special to Ilene!
Many thoughts and emotions play on us as we watch the passing of their generation. The one I dwell on today is the amazing heritage of this family God placed me in. I was blessed to grow up surrounded by people who took a stand for their beliefs and values. Ilene and Ray were such godly examples to me.
My brother Steve quoted a verse at Ray's passing, and I adapt with my own words for Ilene:
"Then Ilene breathed her last
And died in a good old age,
An old woman and full of years,
And she was gathered to her people"
Genesis 25:7
I am confident that Ilene is resting in peace with her people today!

Sr. Ilene was a special connection to my mom, and I loved our time together. My favorite memories are her enthusiasm for Gemma's singing, and the Christmas morning she and her sister Lee were at my house (without steps) between Mass and their family's celebration. She has planned for them to hang out at Tully's! Lee was enchanted with my nativity set collection, and Sr. Ilene was amazed at the difference between cocoa made with real chocolate milk & real whipped cream and those packets she usually used. I treasure her memory.

I always appreciated her beautifully handwritten thank you and birthday notes. She was the perfect representative for HNA.
