Ivey "Ike" Kimbrough Collins

Ivey Collins, age 88, of Bellevue WA passed away peacefully on May 31st, 2012.

Ike was born to the Rev. Fred T. Collins and Genevieve Kimbrough Collins in Raeford, NC on January 24th, 1924. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty, his daughter Debra, son James and his wife Okju, grandchildren Andy, Sean, and Chloe, brother Vernon, and sisters Mattie and Cynthia.

Ike graduated from the North Carolina State Aero & Engineering School, member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society, pursuing a life-long passion with aviation, He started his career as an aeronautical engineer at Martin, and then moved to Boeing in the Seattle area where he met Betty on a ski trip to Sun Valley and they later married. Ike went on to work with the US Air Force civil service in Omaha, NE and Riverside, CA before rejoining Boeing in Seattle where he retired in 1986. Ike was an avid golfer and skier, enjoying many outings with his family and friends throughout his life.

A gathering of friends and family to remember Ike will take place at 7:00pm on Thursday, June 21st at the First Baptist Church of Bellevue, 10431 SE 11th Street, Bellevue WA.
