Jacque Mayo Obituary

Jacque MAYO Jacque Mayo passed away gracefully at his home in Edmonds on August 26th after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born March 21, 1931 to Horace and Velma Mayo in the Wedgewood neighborhood of Seattle, Jacque was a determined child putting himself through the University of Washington Dental School and then the U.S. Navy. Jacque practiced dentistry for over 35 years in the Green Lake and Northgate neighborhoods of Seattle, before retiring in 1996 to spend quality time traveling the world and enjoying his beautiful home in downtown Edmonds. Jacque's love for tennis and skiing were evident in his group travels with many friends. Sun Valley was definitely his homebase for bothbut you could catch up with him in Scottsdale, Aspen, Paris or Sydney if it was the right time of year. Jacque was a Delta Chi at the University of Washington, and it was here that he fostered many friendships that would help shape his life to come. Not busy enough to be a practicing dentist four days a week; Jacque's entrepreneurial spirit prodded him to enter the business world in all of his free time. Most, but not all, of his focus was on the waterside city of Edmonds. What began as one building in Edmonds blossomed into many buildings, and many businesses to go along with them. The Edmonds Theater was his favorite, but he found time for Durbins, Michelle's, The Main Place, Bennetton and the Chocolatier. Jacque was a civic minded person who took great pride in what he did. He was fair, loyal and passionate. He will be missed dearly by his four surviving children; Todd, Stephanie, Michelle and Jon and his granddaughter, Olivia. Services will be held at the Edmonds Conference Center on Monday, August 31 at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson's Institute. Arrangements: Beck's Funeral Home, Edmonds, 425-771-1324; please share memories with the family at www.becksfuneralhome.com

Dear Mayo Family, Your father was the backbone of the Edmonds Business Community, truly a leader in helping maintain the wonderful small town atmosphere we all enjoy in Edmonds. I appreciated so much his leadership and friendship. He will certainly be missed but I praise God that his long struggle with Parkinson is now over and rejoice that he is in his real home!
