James Conan Obituary

James R. Conan

James R. Conan, 93, formerly of Bellevue, WA, passed peacefully on November 2, 2018 in Fremont, CA. Born in Hoodsport, WA, Jim grew up in Olympia and was a proud graduate of Olympia High School, where he met his beloved wife of 59 years, Jeannette Nottage, who predeceased him in 2004. After serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Jim enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Safeco Insurance. Jim and Jeannette traveled extensively and particularly enjoyed their Hood Canal vacation home near his birthplace of Hoodsport. A musician at heart, Jim particularly enjoyed jazz and played drums professionally in his early years, notably with the Vern Mallory orchestra. He was also a regular blood donor, and was proud to have donated 13 gallons of blood.

Jim will be remembered for his devotion to Jeannette, admired for his strength of character and unshakeable values, and missed for his droll sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his son Kevin (Sharon) of San Jose, CA, daughter Jenifer Tice (Mike) of Fremont, CA; grandchildren Michelle, Sean and Ryan and great-grandchildren Reese, Colby, Bodie, Conan and Carson.

Services will be held in Olympia at a later date.
