James Sillery Obituary

James Reburn Sillery

Born December 5, 1921 Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. He died June 30, 2017 in Seattle Washington.Predeceased by parents James F. and Dorothy Sillery, of Venice, Florida, and his brother Robert Sillery of Alabama.

Dearest to him are: His beloved wife, Edie of over 70 years, Seattle; his son James K. Sillery, Seattle; and his 1973 pickup truck to go camping in.

Jim was a life member of Masonic Lodge Yancey Blalock, as well as of DeMolay Cub and Boys Scouts and the Fleet Reserve Association #18.

Jim loved and served his country, and he retired after 20 years in the U.S. Navy, with many years at Sandpoint Naval Air Station, Seattle. After that retirement he worked on staff at the University of Washington and retired there after 20 years.

His best time was spent traveling to various parts of the world, especially going to Ireland to see relatives of his family, as well as England and many places in many states, and the home of his wife Edie's family in Sweden.

But his greatest delight was many trips to Alaska, by driving, camping, flying and by train car. He loved the outdoors, both in other parts of the world and also in what he called his "park"-his backyard with fruit trees, berries and his garden, He loved having his afternoon coffee there watching wildlife and seeing planes overhead. And yes, the pleasure of sawing and chopping wood to feed his fireplace insert, helping other people with projects, and his ready Irish humor.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many others.

His choice of departure will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery with honors and to be with all his military friends.

He rests in peace.
