John Hampson Obituary

John Castle HAMPSON May 13, 1934 - April 20, 2007 Jack passed away at home with family by his side after a courageous three month battle with cancer. Beloved husband, father, "Papa" and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Seattle to Dr. John and Lorraine Hampson. They traveled the world during his childhood, moving as the Air Force dictated. Following high school in California, like his father, he served in the US Air Force. After release from the military, Jack returned to Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington. Jack was successful in business, working his way through the ranks at Frederick & Nelson and London Fog. Most recently he provided supplies to the Navy, calling the thrill of rides on aircraft carriers and submarines "Awesome!" However, his true success was measured in the happiness of his family. Jack's devotion to his family was his most important mission. Jack was a member of Sandpoint Country Club for 35 years. He enjoyed golfing with pals at Desert Willows Golf Club in Palm Desert, where he had a winter home. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carol, daughter Michele Usibelli (Mitch) and sons Wayne Castle (Joni) and John Craig (Amy). He adored his grandchildren Nathan, Jacqueline, Angelina, Gabrielle, Lauren, Drew and Cade. They were the lights of his life. Thank you to our family and friends for their prayers, love and support. Jack was always there to help others. Extend your hand to someone in need as a tribute to his memory. A "Celebration of Life" will be held.

Although I never met Jack face to face, it was certainly a pleasure dealing with him over the phone. It was with great sadness that we learned of his passing.
Carol, you and your family are in our prayers. He was a wonderful
character and will be missed by everyone at BB Embroidery.

Jack was a wonderful and rare friend and neighbor. He made us feel so included and never hesitated to help in any way he could. Golfing, dinners, parties and boating will never be the same without him. His legacy speaks for itself- a wonderful family. We loved him and will miss him so much.

Jack was truly one of the kindest, most positive people that we have had in our lives. He had a gentle nature, always a big smile, a warm embrace and the desire to spend time together. He made everyone feel so special. We cherished our time with him, most especially, the past 5 years in the desert, sharing dinners and golf games. We will greatly miss him and never forget the good times, all of them. Carol, we love you!

Carol, Jack was the most caring person and so interested in Rod's health issues. We will never
forget the times we had together while each of us were spending the winters in California. During his very brief fight with cancer, you were both in our thought and prayers. A donation is being sent in Jack's memory to the
cancer fund.

Our Family,
You have been in our thoughts and prayers. Jack was such a wonderful man. I enjoyed talking with him at our family gatherings. He had this way of making someone happy on the inside with just words. We will miss him.
We love you all!

Hi Dad, I still wait to hear your knock on the door for our coffee and muffins.........you taught me your best lesson of my life during your sickness. Your example of courage and dignity has made me a better person and you have also taught me that life is fragile and fleeting. In honor of your memory I will strive to find joy and happiness in every day, as you would have done. You were one of the greatest men I have ever known and I miss you terribly......I love you, Michele
