Joyce Dearden Obituary

Joyce M. DEARDEN Age 67. Born in New York City August 15, 1937 and passed away in Kirkland, Washington February 21, 2005 after a five month battle with brain cancer. Joyce was a strong woman with a great sense of humor, and always had a way of making everyone smile. She even had them smiling at work. Many of her former employees at the Burlington Northern Railroad commented on all the good times they had thanks to Joyce. She always tried to surround herself with people; she did not like to be alone. So most of her time in retirement was spent with me, her daughter. We always loved to go out to eat and, of course, shopping! We practically spent everyday together in one way or another. I think the happiest day for my mom was the day her granddaughter Serena was born. After that, it was the three of us that spent almost every day together. I will miss those days, and I will miss those daily phone calls from my mom asking me what time she should come over. Mom, you can come over anytime you want! Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, David Dearden, daughter Dana Dearden-Daher, grandchildren Jeremy and Serena, and was preceded in death by her son Darin Dearden. Funeral Service Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 4:00 PM at the Acacia Funeral Home, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle.
