Larry Richstein Obituary

Larry D. (Rube Tubin) Richstein

Larry D. Richstein (Rube Tubin) passed away peacefully in Seattle on August 18, 2012. Larry was born on May 5, 1945, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Larry's career as a musician and soundman started in the 60's with his bands, The Valiants, The Bumps and Rube Tubin and the Rondonna's. He was also a frequent guest artist with Jr. Cadillac and Sweet Talkin' Jones in the 70's. Rube was a founding member of Les Follies, a band made up of musicians from many Seattle bands.

In the early 70's, Larry started one of the first sound companies in the Northwest. He moved from that to soundman for Tom Jones for 8 years where he met and married singer Jeannie King Richstein. After leaving Tom Jones, Larry was soundman and road manager for Roger Miller for 5 years. At the end of his tenure with Roger Miller, he moved to Las Vegas and was a union soundman at several large Casinos for 10 more years before moving back to Seattle.

Larry's abilities as a soundman and musician are considered legendary by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed by his countless friends everywhere.

Larry is survived by his brother, Jim Richstein and two nephews.

A Celebration of Rube's life will be held in mid-September.

Larry, my friend. It's been so many years - almost 50 of them. We lost touch but never the memories. I will miss know you're not here but believe we'll be jammin' and having a blast in the blink of an eye. I will always remember you as a pal back in the day and will treasure my memories of you. God speed, my friend.
