Louis Verhoef Obituary

Louis VERHOEF He’s left us far too soon. Always quick with a smile and ready to have a good time Louis brought joy and happiness wherever he went. A tragic accident has taken him from us but we will always remember his booming laugh and infectiously mischievous spirit. Louis started life’s journey in his hometown of Kempton Park, South Africa with his parents, Willem and Wanda Verhoef. From early on it was his great desire to experience everything.and he did! Fate would bring Louis to Jackson High School in Mill Creek, Washington where he would meet the love of his life - Amy. After a storybook romance they were married and began a life together with a love that was literally as large as the entire world. Traveling freely around the globe, their life was made even more idyllic with the addition of the greatest miracle daughter in the world, Jamie. While there were challenges in life Louis always maintained a positive outlook and was his family’s pillar of strength. Louis is survived by Amy and Jamie, his parents, Willem and Wanda, sister, Wilanda, grandparents, Veronica Van der Merwe and Ems Verhoef, numerous South African Aunts, Uncles and cousins and his Seattle family Michele, Tonne and Sean. A Service to celebrate Louis’ Life will be held at Floral Hills at 12:00 p.m., Friday, November 30th. The candle of Louis’ life burned very brightly and has been extinguished far too soon, but that brightness is forever etched in our memories and he will be part of us forever. Louis, you will be greatly missed.

Flicker

If ever u go to field, and think back when...
When times was great, as it was back then.
When friends knew that the support was there,
when life it seems a bit unfair,
... it was covered by a warm hug, and a drink.

Do u remember when ..
Do u,
...kinda recall, the night time "jol",
when a stage, not only served as elevation,
but could also be, an escape from life?

The times has changed.

It changes always ... but always was better,
with big smiles..
Big smiles, that gets missed,
... when it's not there.

... a song sung by choir , just like laughter.
When missing a key choice ...
the crowd doesn't know, that to be in sync,
the rest must grow, but difficult...
without that special voice ...

If u look into the heavens, to make your wish,
when u search for that, flicker,
of your shooting star.
That for a moment seems so bright,
... and then disappears,

life does that too ...

It did it with the sparkle, the shimmer of life...
that radiated, from the windows of a fun, naughty,
a wonderful...
and very friendly soul ...

... to a friend's good spirit,
one that is missed ...

And one... that will not be forgot.

Louis - with such a sad heart that I am typing this. I just couldn't get myself to actually face the fact that you were taken too soon that you were really gone this time... The other day we (your crazy school friends from SA) were talking about our primary school years here, and the "bicycle club" we had.. you the leader of course... and we were laughing about all the silly things we did... and missing chubby (andre) and you.... and then it hit us. You were far from us when you moved but we all just got very quiet and sad. We still remember you and we will always, we love you forever and ever. You will always be part of the "bicycle club".

As you smile down from heaven to your Beautiful wife, gorgeous daughter and your wonderful family - give us a super smile and wink too.. Till we meet again. Nadia and all SA friends.

Louis,

I never had the wonderful opportunity of spending time with you and I am very sad about that. However I do feel very lucky to hear all of the amazing stories from your Beautiful Wife, Beautiful Daughter, Your Brother Sean and My Brother Carter. All the stories I hear makes me know in my heart you are looking down proudly from heaven with a gorgeous smile on your face. You do a wonderful job at keeping your family safe and keeping smiles on their faces from your wonderful memories. One day I will get the pleasure of meeting you, but please don't make me laugh to hard because I tend to snort :)

Louis, almost five years later and I still think about you everyday. Not only have I lost my brother, but father figure and best friend. I still can't believe that you are gone. No words can describe the pit in my stomach as I sit here typing. You are still missed, everyday and always will be by so many. Since you have been gone I have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan twice. I am currently in Afghanistan on my second tour serving as a civilian contractor for ManTech. I love and miss you so much and know that you are looking down on us all, watching over us. Please continue to watch over your friends and family, the way only you could do. I love you brother and miss you from the bottom of my heart.

Louis... I never called you Louis, it was always my angel, my baby, my vleis.. I can't believe it, we are supposed to grow old together?? You were my life. You always had the right words to say to make everything okay. Baby, right now I need those words. You are the most amazing man ever. I could walk into our house after an 8 hour day at work and when I saw you it would feel as if I hadn't seen you in years. You still gave me butterflies. You were the best husband anyone could ever ask for. You helped me so much, I always told you I can't live without you, and now I don't know what I am going to do. You had a beautiful smile with a sparkle in your eye. The smallest things made you happy. You loved to love life. I loved you loving me and I loved loving you.
You were an amazing daddy. The 3 of us had so many plans and things we wanted to do together. Jamie misses you so much. We kiss you good morning every morning and good night every night. And everything reminds us of you. I bought Jamie chocolate the other day, and she said if you could come back she would share it all with you! (You guys always used to fight over the chocolate!) Please let me wake up and have this be a horrible sick dream. You are my everything. And I know how much you meant to everyone you ever met. All the calls you would get at night...just for advice. My angel, the world needed you, I needed you, Jamie needed you. Why did you have to go? I pray every night to dream of you, and I have a couple times, but its not enough. Its not fair. We will think of you every day....please watch over Jamie and I, as well as your Mom, Dad and Sister. We still need you.
I love you Louis, I love you so much. I can't wait to see you again. Please save one of those big hugs for me...

Love always and forever,
Amy

Dear Willem, Wanda, Wilanda, Amy and Jamie,

I am so shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic passing of Louis. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Louis was a wonderful person that I am so fortunate and blessed to have known during high school at Jackson. He was a tremendous friend to me and countless other people. Everyone who came into contact with Louis just adored him. He will be missed by so many people around the world.

Louis is now your Guardian Angel in Heaven, looking down upon you and keeping you safe. Smile and cherish the memories that you have with him. He is gone too soon from this life, but you will be reunited with him again one day.

With my deepest sympathy to the Verhoef family and friends of Louis,

Heidi (Burton) Clark

Words cannot express how both shocked and sad I feel from this sudden loss. I was blessed to know Louis during our junior and senior years and Jackson.

Holly is right - Louis would want us to keep smiling, as he is smiling down on us right now. Louis and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. My heart also goes out to everyone who was lucky and fortunate enough to cross paths with this amazing man. He was truly one of a kind.

This week my wife and I were putting up the Christmas stuff and I told her about a chemistry student from years before who had gone home over Christmas and returned with a gift from South Africa for me.

It was Louis.

I remember how excited and enthusiastic he was as I opened it.
He hoped I would like it. I was surprised by the gift and very pleased with his thoughtfulness.

Today I was shocked to see Louis' obituary. I'm so sad and find myself remembering the few personal contacts we had...now years ago.

I remember he struggled with chemistry but worked at it with enthusiasm and diligence.

Louis came to my classroom one day carrying a large chest. It was his senior project; he had refurbished and refinished it. It looked good and he was proud of it.

I am so glad to have known Louis. He's a part of what's made my life a good one.

Louis, It's so hard to comprehend that you are gone. You were the most amazing person I ever met. You were so caring, funny, down to earth and your smile lit up the room. You will be sorely missed by all of us. Our strength now is knowing you are with the Lord and that you will always watch over Amy and Jamie. Thank you for treating us all like family and giving us the chance to know you. Whenever I see a beautiful sunrise or a star shining bright I will know it's you smiling down on us.

In Memory of Dear Sweet Louis of whom my life was BLESSED when I met him through my daughter Heidi, both of them students at Jackson High School (graduating class of '99).

Louis brought much love and happiness to us all...I was so very taken by the gentleness and kindness this young Man carried in his heart and soul. The fabulous "accent" in his voice would melt my heart.

When he had to move back to So. Africa and leave the States I cried. Upon his leaving he presented me with a bottle of Full Body PORT of So. Africa and a pillar candle both of which I still have and will treasure always.

Louis's Memory and Smile will forever live in my heart. I love you Sweetie!

To the Verhoef Family and friends of Louis I send my sincerest, heartfelt sympathys. I pray that you find comfort in knowing so many peoples lives have been Blessed in having known Louis and that his memory will live on!

God Bless all of you at this terribly sad time.
Keep a smile on your face for Louis, he would want it that way!

Again my sincerest, heartfelt sympathys -

Auf Wiedersehen Louis -
Rest in Peace

I work with your father and only got the chance to meet you briefly. But through your parents I have seen many pictures of you and your wonderful family, and heard really great things about you. They are so proud!! I'm sorry that you are gone, but your spirit will live on forever with everyone that were touched by your life.
