Neil Wakefield Obituary

Neil Robert WAKEFIELD "I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul." Psalm 31:7. Neil Wakefield was taken from us on June 27, 2007, far too young at the age of 26. Our grief at his passing is inconsolable. We lift up our eyes to the hills for our help, which comes from the Lord. Neil was born in 1981 in Seattle, WA. From his early childhood he was known for his generosity and his magnetic personality. It was not uncommon to find other young people flocking around him, vying for his attention. He was exceptionally bright and talented, excelling at all that he undertook in his short life. In his early twenties Neil attended the University of Washington and was a couple of credits short of a pre-law degree when he decided to change course with his life and eventually found success in his own tree trimming business. His future was without limit, from his extraordinary ability at golf to his more recent job trimming tall timbers; he was a joy to observe at work and play. Neil was sensitive and modest, he never sought out the spotlight, he was simply the natural center of attention. Our souls truly are anguished at the loss of our son and brother, whose life was a joyful light the loss of which darkens our days and lengthens our nights. Yet we rejoice in the knowledge that he is walking in peace with our Lord and there one day we will all be joined as a family again. Neil is survived by his parents, Earl and Cheryl Wakefield, his brother, Eric Wakefield and a multitude of adoring Aunts, Uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service for Neil will be held Saturday, July 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 1320 Auburn Way S, Auburn, WA 98002, 253-833-5660. A Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to World Vision.

Cheryl, Earl, and Eric,
I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss of Neal. I only knew Neal as a very small little boy, but remember him as a sweet natured loving little baby boy with wonderful loving parents and big brother. My heart really goes out to you and wish you only comfort in this difficult time.
Again, you have my deepest sympathy.

Dear Wakefield family

We remember Neil as a fun, smart, kind and wonderful friend to Kevin during his years at St. Lukes preschool, Twin Lakes Elementary and playing Little League. We were sad when you moved to Lake Tapps but words cannot express how sad we feel now. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Cheryl, Earl, & Eric,

I was very saddened to hear about the loss of Neil. I remember all of the times playing in the neighborhood growing up and having Neil there in the classic little brother role. I know that loss of a family member is tremendously difficult and will keep your family in my thoughts.

With my regards.

We remember the wonderful young man playing golf by our house and always looking for a cold drink. We loved Neil and will miss him. He was such an outstanding person, so smart, so cute, so much fun to be around. What a terrible loss. It helps to know that he is now at peace. I wish we could be there to give you all a big hug.
