Waaaay late to be adding this, but just came upon Peter's obit while trying to dig up a contact # to check up on him in the Covid-19 lock down season. I knew Peter in his Trinity County days, first at the DMV and through the Library and (tiny) Dem caucus. Later we even shared a bed -- by turns, not simultaneously -- when we were on rota as USFS fire lookouts on Ironside mountain. One of the very few people who could truly be described as a gentleman and a scholar -- ie.e a gentle man and a heroically self-educated scholar. And an instinctive poet and keen naturalist. One of a kind; much missed.

I was a friend of Peters when he lived in the Arcata, CA area. We would listen to reggae and party. Rest in Peace old friend. (Good photo)

I first met Pete in the Army where we trained together, went to Vietnam together and came home together. I hooked up with him many years later and he was the same gentle, great guy I remembered. One of the few true gentlemen I have ever met. God speed my friend.

My sincere condolences to Pete's family and friends. So sorry for your loss.
Pete was a very good friend for many years. Always considerate, kind and thoughtful with a friendly wry wit. He was someone who was interested in very many subjects and informed himself through his joy of reading and travel. We talked often about shared interests which I will greatly miss. Despite significant health challenges in the last few years Pete was still optimistic and thinking of the next earthly adventure he wanted to pursue and never dwelling on the health challenges he faced. I'm sure he has taken the same optimism with him on his latest journey. Rest in peace my friend.
