Purificacion Rodrigo Obituary

Purificacion Meija RODRIGO Purificacion "Pacing" Rodrigo passed away February 27, 2005. She was the first of ten children born to Gregorio and Mercedez Meiji on September 23, 1923 in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines. Her parents had a vision that all their children would be educated. Pacing graduated from the University of Santo Tomas and the University of Washington. She married Marcelo Manangan whom she met in the same high school where both were educators. Together, with children Nolette and Nick, the family immigrated to Seattle, WA in 1959. Pacing taught home economics and bilingual education in the Seattle Public Schools until she retired in 1989. Pacing was known as a loving mother, sister, teacher and mend. She was kind, generous and helped bring her brothers and sisters to the US. Pacing was stricken with Parkinson disease and spent the last years of her life in Elk Grove, CA surrounded by loving sisters and family. She is survived by daughter Nolette and husband Roger Serra and son Dr. Nick Manangan and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Dr. Nicole Serra Van Mieghem, Marc Serra and Jocelyn, Robbie, Roland, Christen Manangan and all her sisters and brothers. Memorial Services will be held on March 5, at lO AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elk Grove, CA. Remembrances may be made towards the establishment of the Purificacion Rodrigo Educational Scholarship Fund c/o Nolette Serra 9221 21st Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117.
