R. Wright Obituary

R. Denny WRIGHT Denny was born 5/26/49 in Milford CT to Fred and Pat Wright. He was the great great great grandson of Arthur A. and Mary A. Denny, two of the founding fathers of Seattle. The family moved to Seattle in 1955. He spent summers on Whidbey Is, where the spark ignited his love for the fire dept listening to stories from Bill Fitzgerald Seattle Fire Chief. He was a lifeguard at the Laurelhurst Beach Club, active in the Laurelhurst Flattie Fleet; he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967. Denny joined Kirkland Fire Dept in 1972 as a volunteer. In 1975 was hired as a dispatcher for the Bellevue Police & Fire. Denny met and married the love of his life, Sue, July 1977. He joined Bothell Fire Dept as a volunteer 4/7/79, became fulltime 10/1/79. Denny worked his way up to the rank of Battalion Chief /Fire Marshal. He worked for the city of Bothell for 30 years. He was diagnosed with cancer and after a short but brave fight, Denny went willingly to be with our Lord and Savior 11/15/09, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Sue, his wife of 32 years, daughter Lindsey (Ryan), son Ryan, his precious granddaughter, Shelby, parents, Fred and Pat, brother Bill (Patrice), and nieces Sarah and Liana. Private graveside services will be held at Lake View Cemetery, a public memorial at Eastside Foursquare in Bothell at 2:00 pm Dec 2, 2009. In lieu of flowers please donate to UW Prostate Cancer Program Fund c/o Dr. Evan Yu @ SCCA. The family wishes to thank the angelic nurses on UW 8 NE, services by Evergreen Washelli.
