Raymond Takisaki Obituary

Raymond Jiro TAKISAKI Raymond Jiro Takisaki passed away on December 10, 2009 after a brief, but brave struggle with cancer. He lived a very full, active life for 85 years and was admired for his energetic,"can-do" attitude by enjoying life to its fullest. Jiro grew up in Seattle with nine siblings and moved with family members to Spokane during WWII. He was inducted into the US Army in 1944 and trained with the 442nd RCT. Jiro married Marion Mihara in 1950 and spent the next 41 years raising 5 children and enjoying 10 grandchildren. He worked at andco-owned Beacon Cleaners for most of his career, but always found time for his family and friends. After Marion passed away in 1991, he moved back to Seattle and continued to be an avid golfer, home projects specialist, enjoyed traveling, dancing, sports and yardwork. For the past 5 years, he devoted much of his time and energy to help with the Seattle Nisei Veterans Committee and Veterans Hall projects. Jiro is survived by his loving wife, Louise Kashino Takisaki and children Phyllis & Bill Campbell, Tom Takisaki, Greg & Doreen, Walt & Pam, Ann & Ron Wentzke, ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; brother Jim, sisters Mary and Agnes. A memorial service to celebrate Jiro's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday Jan. 15, 2010 at Blaine Memorial Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jiro's honor to the NVC Foundation, PO Box 3042 - Seattle, WA 98114, or Blaine Memorial Methodist Church, 3001 24th Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98144.
