Richard McLaughlin Obituary

Richard S. "Dick" McLaughlin

Dick, 87, of Federal Way passed away May 14th, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lillian. He is survived by his three children Susan (Pete), Rich (Tracy) and Erin (Eric); five grandchildren: Sarin (Charity), Sean, Jetaime, Stephen and Alexander; and one great grandchild, Rowan. He is also survived by sisters Kathy and Pat (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick had an amazing laugh. He was warm and genuine and greeted any new person he met with a smile or a joke. He loved to support the local sports teams, and rarely missed one of his kid's matches, meets, or games. He even recently attended his grandchild's soccer and flag football games. Dick was the consummate 'dependable guy'. He was the anchor of his family and those who knew him, knew they could ask most anything of him and he would help if he was able. He so loved his wife, and missed her terribly after her passing in 2013. The family finds solace in knowing they are together again. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Medic One Foundation, www.mediconefoundation.org. Per his wishes there will be no funeral, just a private wake. He will be inurned next to his wife, at Washington Memorial Park, SeaTac.
