Robert Mason Obituary

Robert E. MASON, Sr. Bob passed away February 18th 2007, at Overlake Hospital from natural causes. He was 88 years of age. On June 20, 1918 Bob was born in a farm house in Nebraska. In Seattle he attended Ravenna Grade School, Roosevelt High School and the U. of W.; graduating in 1940 with an economics degree and a commission as a U.S. Navy Ensign. Most of his war years in the Pacific were spent on a battleship and two attack aircraft carriers. He served in five combat theatres and five battles. Inspired by loyalty and the then global threat of Communism he, with family, performed 12 years of post war duty as a Special Agent of the FBI in St Louis, Detroit and Seattle. From 1960 until 1980 Bob worked at Merrill Lynch assisting clients seeking finanical planning. From 1988 until 2005 he accepted the part time roll of arbitrator from the N.A.S.D. This last function was to deter and penalize securities fraud. All in all Bob had a happy life. He took pride in his heritage, was extremely appreciative of his own parents and truly believed his children were optimal. From beginning to end the dominant themes in Bob's life were loyalty to country and love of family. He is survived by three of his beloved children with spouses; Janet M. Burns (Tom), R.E. Mason (Chris), Susan McLeod (Scott), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. till time of Services at 1:00 p.m. at Acacia Chapel, 14951 Bothell Way, Seattle on Friday February 23rd with Entombment to follow. Remembrances to the Blue and Gold Foundation, Naval ROTC at U of W, Seattle, Wa, 98015. Or to the Society of Former FBI Agents Foundation, PO Box 1027, Quantico, VA 22134.

We have only known Bob in the recent years of his life, but it took no time at all for us to find a very special place for him in our hearts. He was a very kind and wonderful man, and we are privileged to have known him!
