Mr. Owren was my orchestra teacher. I played cello at the time. He was just a lovely, kind, caring gentleman, always.

Mr. Owren had to be my favorite teacher. He pushed us all to be better than our best. He encouraged me not only to do well in music, but also encouraged me to encourage others. When I got sick just after high school, he had the choir send me get well notes. I've never forgotten! I am sad that I did not try to contact him these many years! I hope I am as good of a teacher and mentor as he was to me! Deb Briseno Kent Meridian High School 1984.

Dear Heidi and Diana,
I am just learning of Bob's passing... My heart is incredibly heavy for your loss. Words do not express what you three meant to me during those years together. I am forever grateful for the peace, the fun, and the freedom you shared by bringing me into your lives. My life was changed for the good because I knew you.
Much love, Leigh Becker Snodgrass

Mr. Owren was an amazing choir teacher. So diversified in the music he chose. I also cleaned his and his wife's house in my high schoo years. (She was my German teacher). They were both amazing people. I am saddened by his death. He brought my musical ability out and gave me confidence. God bless this amazing teacher and man. Much love.

WOW! it's hard to believe such a big part of our past is gone. He was such a presence at KM and a great teacher. So many good memories for so many students. He was my choir teacher for my 3 years at KM, including the Swing Choir my senior year...he was an awesome mentor. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us, I hope you know how loved he was by so many people and knowing gives you some comfort.

I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Owren's passing. I was a choir student at Kent-Meridian 1970-1972 and loved being in his choir and working with him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a passion for our music making. I was fortunate to be able to visit he and Heidi during the summer of 2013 at their home in Des Moines. It was wonderful to see him, still looking handsome and dapper as ever!!! He was a wonderful man and music educator, and had a huge influence on my career path. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family. God bless all of you!!!
