Robert Riel Obituary

Robert H. RIEL Robert H. Riel was born to Ann & Fred Riel on Feb. 2, 1919 in Seattle, WA and passed away in Belfair, WA on Dec. 16, 2008. He attended Lafayette, James Madison JH and W. Seattle HS. He joined Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Whit man College, joined the Army Air force, and became an aviation cadet, a pilot and a Lt. in the Air Force. In 1950 he married Marie Martin, was a salesman at Davies Chevrolet and then a Boeing employee for 26 yrs, retiring in 1981 to Hood Canal. He was a member of the W. Seattle HS Monogram Club, WA Athletic Club, Scottish Rite, Service Lodge, the American Legion and the Seattle Nile Temple. Survivors include his wife of 58 yrs, Marie, daughters Mary Ann Riel of Seat tle, Susan E. Anderson, (John) and granddaughter Nicole Marie Anderson of San Clemente, CA and relatives. Bob was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He loved sports (was on the HS baseball and bas ketball teams), ball room dancing and family activities. He had many wonder ful friends throughout his life. With the help of hospice, Bob stayed at home, as he wished. He passed away, however, with his family present, after a brief stay in a care facility. Private services for family and a memorial service will be announced.
