First met Tom in the late 1980s while working at Microsoft. At that time, he was writing the software control code (device drivers) for the Microsoft Mouse in a very difficult computer language known as 8086 assembly. He was kind enough to share his knowledge and assist me with a similar project on Word, and we started a friendship.

Tom was one of the nicest people I met at Microsoft, as I'm sure anyone would agree with who knew him there.

A quiet sadness moves amongst us all as we remember a friend who left us too soon. Our lives have an ebb and flow like the ocean tides bringing a treasure of memories one day and washing away our sand castles the next. Our friends may move far away and maybe we lose touch with some, yet the friendship we share remains in our hearts and when we least expect it, that friend brings a smile to our face.

Tom Hensel, a man loved, adored, and respected by so very many, left each of us with many wonderful memories. I will always remember Tom for the joy, friendship, fun and caring he brought to us all.
My heart is with you.

Dr. Hensel, Words fail me at this time. He was taken too soon and will be missed by all of us here. We especially got a kick out of his sweet tooth. Everytime he came in to visit, the first thing he would do is fix himself a coffee with a Milkyway swirl chaser. I don't even know if he had the coffee, just the packet of Milkyway topping. If you need us for any reason, we are here for you, you have my card. Myself (Alice Francis), Ana, Robert, Scott, & Liz send heartfelt condolences...we wish we could do more.......
